Ok it's from Rucci but maybe we've given him some info.

Coaching changes at Port
GARRY HOCKING ending his rule with the SANFL Magpies to concentrate on AFL duties at the Power. This is in line with his appointment with the Magpies originally set as a two-year deal.

TYSON EDWARDS stepping away from the Power forwards brief. His options extend beyond Alberton, where he could remain as a development coach. He already is being attached to the Gold Coast, where senior coach Rodney Eade has been guaranteed an expanded football program with more assistant coaches.

NATHAN BASSETT, the Norwood SANFL premiership coach and former Crows defender, advancing his AFL coaching apprenticeship by moving to Alberton from Essendon where he is working with the Bombers’ forwards.

Bassett is a very smart operator and a straight shooter. He's no yes man and will challenge current thinking.

I think we've told the story from a player sponsorship dinner where Tom Jonas spoke very highly of Bassett and how he had helped Tom's career.

We asked him why Bassett to that time hadn't secured an assistant role in the AFL and Tommy said clubs were probably keen on them until they spoke to him. :D He won't piss in your pocket and tell you it's raining.

Yep, time for the Bassman to experience a real footy club.
The guy will ruffle feathers but I think he has that ruthlessness that is needed at Port.

I hope we do get Bassett. We seem to have gone soft this year did Rucc state this was fact or is it just rumour. It would piss of the Crows faithful who love him. Hope the Crows don't pinch him after a year, Walsh style.

If you click on the link you will see Rucci writes 'the changes will be' not the usual Capelism 'it is understood that ...' hence my belief that Port have given him the info.

Pretty interesting but not out of left field. What role would Hocking move into? I presume Bassett for our forwards or would he become defensive coach and move Nicks elsewhere?

Side note, what about Goodes as a forwards coach? Comes from a successful system, talented himself, a mentor for our indigenous lads and seems to be a fairly switched on chap.

I pray that we have outgrown pissing off the Crows. We're vanilla now, remember?

And for god sake let's not go leaping into the future blinded with ecstasy. That was the crux of the problem at the start of this year!

Rucci gets paid for floating this sort of stuff. Don't encourage him, let alone take him seriously.

In theory we could do worse than Goodes as a forwards coach, still a talented player, with exceptional reading of the play and positioning, and close to a KPF, but we could also do better, and I don't think he'd be interested.

I keep hearing those things about Bassett but he is at Essendon at the moment. Surely, to stay there you have to be a little subservient.

There is a reason he is leaving.

No thanks to Goodes. We have a top shelf indigenous mentor and Goodes has zero coaching history.

If the key changes are correct I'd consider, Edwards out to Gold Coast or dev, hocking to work with Voss while Carr rolls to sanfl duties. Bassett to forward coach.
You could potentially flick Bassett to defence if nicks is a risk of leaving.

According to Rucci he's not staying there. ;)

Hat-trick!

He won't piss in your pocket and tell you it's raining .. That's what we need :) less pissing and more action...

Still remember Bassett going on how we are not one club etc doesn't deserve to be at our great club IMO .
