Just back from the coburg V bullants game. I got there half way through the second quarter.

We won by 4 goals approx after being 6 up at 3/4 time - so that is a good thing (they had the wind in last quarter).

Here are my thoughts on certain players.

Bowden - carried his AFL style into this game by drifting in and out - got a lot of the ball, and got by himself a few times - seemed to be going 3/4 pace (why am i not surprised). Had Anthony Franchina on him so earnt all his touches the hard way. I don't think he did enough to earn his spot back.

Zantuck - played up forward for most of the time and clearly has the skill level to be better than this standard - did some nice things - good goal in last quarter to seal it. Still had the lazy option in him - needs another game at least.

Morrison - Played the whole game and presented well - at 3/4 time he was the one barking instructions until flood started to speak - this surprised me as not knowing him, i would have thought he was a quiet kind of guy - really showed the opposite - the benefit of going to these games is that you can hear who is vocal on the field and he was probably the most. Can't see him coming back next week if richo is right - a chance if not but i think another game here would help him.

Pettifer - Dominant, When i see him play like this i really wonder why he hasn't sealed a spot in the ones. Kicked goals up forward, played on the ball, even kicked out a couple of times. I guess he shows what a huge step up from VFL to AFL is.

Tuck - Thereabouts, fumbled a lot but was at the ball a lot - not ready for seniors yet - not sure if he ever will be, my guess is that he has this year to show something. Not sure why but just think he isn't going to make it.

Nicholls - Not much, i think je will be at coburg for a t least a few more games.

Draga - Not as good as the last few weeks (from all reports) but kept trying.

Raines - couple of nice things, conditions did not suit. This guy REALLY looks like his old man. I doubt if he will get a game with seniors this year ( maybe rd 17 or 18 to see how he handles it) - needs a lot of weight work.

Moore - ditto raines re late season at best - took a couple of solid marks in the last quarter when bullants were charging. He is tall so i will be very patient with him

Foley - Wow, this kid has the hands of Craig Lambert, and the early days kicking style of Craig as well (plenty of time to work on that). A thinking footy player, very light on but he could be a great player for us in the future - he was the one i was most excited about when i left.

Didn't notice Jackson so i guess he was not playing.

Saw Roach senior at the game - seeing as blue light was not playing it was good to see him supporting the team.

Hopefully we might be the TV game soon. Think we are at Punt Road next week.

Did Alex Gilmour play?

I am ashamed to say that i did not notice him but i wouldn't be surprised if someone said he did.

I assume he did not.

Thanx Peejay.
Nice one.

Cheers peejay.

I would think that pettifer has to be called upon to play against sydney. Also i think zantuck needs to play down back as sydney have a lot of forwards.

Hall- Gasper
Oloughlan - Zantuck
Okeefe- Hartigan
Davis- Chaffey

Campbell as loose man etc i dunno as schneider did his hammy today that gave us more of a chance. Having stafford back is a big bonus as the ball/Goodes ruckman is the same as otto/staff. Need to be carefull on them

But overall
pettifer zantuck in
Roach Rodan Out

look w boy when you drop the likes of pettifer and zanner you drop them for a few weeks and you tell them to get as much of the footy as poss and do the team things.

this is what is wrong with us we are not tough enough. these b;lokes deserve to be dropped not deserve to be brought back in they have to bloody earn it

Stafford is back and hopefully Richo I'd say those two would be getting a game before Zantuck and Pettifer are considered.

Stafford will replace Marsh. I'd like to see Richo for Fletcher but wouldn't be suprised to see Fletcher get another run and one of the talls sent back to Coburg.

Agree cairo - from what i saw nobody"deserves" to the brought up.

Pettifer should get another chance - espically if he plays another game like todays' but let him play at least another for Coburg BUT when he does come back - play him for at least 3/4 of the game.

Either him or spud or both will go at the end of the year. Pity if they both went and we never saw pettifer get a real chance - look what Hyde did yesterday after given two or three games with extended periods on the ground.

Anyway as soon as we get a long term injury we MUST bring Foley onto the list.

Now i know this is a big call at this early stage but this guy could play 150 games or more for us.

Look cairo its not as if pettifer has only been performing well for today. He kicked 3 goals today, 3 goals last week and i think 4 the week before and has featured in the best. Marsh hardly got any hitouts or possesions last week so he has to be dropped.

Side vs sydney.

B: A.Kellaway Gasper Chaffey

C: Hyde Johnson Tivendale
HF: Fiora Shultz Weller
FF: Krakouer Richo Hilton
Foll: Ottens Brown Fleming
Int: Stafford Newman Pettifer Zantuck
Emg: Roach Morrison Fletcher

In: Zantuck, Pettifer, Stafford, Richardson
Out: Marsh, Roach, Fletcher, Rodan

ohh wrennyboy Poor Roachy

well he jsut isnt finding the ball as much as he used to in the other games. I know he isnt getting much game time i just think he needs to find the ball in the 2's for a bit. He has made his debut, kicked his first afl goal and now he knows what its like to play at afl level. By doing this he knows what is expected of him at training etc which will by better for RFC. He can keep working at that level and be selected.

We have some big inclusions this week. Its just that rodan and fletcher didnt do much. And marshy hardly any hitouts or possies.

Richo is our FF kicks goals and straintens our structure
Zantuck kicked 6 for burgers.
Pettifer has kicked 12 goals the last 2 weeks and palyed well.
Staff is our ruckman and this will support otto.

Not bad wrenny. I'd be inclined to spell Gaspar if Richo comes back next week. I don't think Roach should be dropped, I like the way he is being eased into the side and he does nice things when he gets on the ground in short bursts. Noticed Rodan had both legs iced immediately after the game against Hawthorn so may have been hampered.
Half forward/back not so important on the shorter SCG and players who run the lines and kick long tend to get good reward there.

Did Alex Gilmour play?

Yes he did. He went to hospital with a suspected scratched eye.. sounds nasty.

Rogo also left the ground during the third quarter with a strained quad.

PJ, just wanted to add that I thought Draga was great in the conditions. He won a few contested balls. Maybe its the romance, but I hope the kid comes good for us after all he's been through. Anyway, I thought he was one of our best.

And agree Foley is one to watch. Mostly on the bench in first half but really showed a lot in 3Q and set up a couple.

Well worth braving another crap day of Melb weather.

Maybe not this year mate. Does a lot of running, and knows how to get the footy. But this year maybe a bit early for him.

Saw him for the first time last week, and wet conditions didnt suit him. But a mate of mine has watched him a few times and thinks he'll mature earlier than some of the other recruits

Tuck is 22 years old, mothball. He is 5 years older than Gilmour and Jackson. It is not a bit early for him. When will he be mature I ask u.

Some players mature late.

He was injury prone as a rookie with the Hawks. So never had a decent run to show he's up to it. But nice of you to pick up on the little issues anyway. Swap the word settle for mature if it helps you sleep at night.

More importantly, have you found any friends yet that dont answer back to you with the expression "Baa" ?

if you're getting a little bored tigrlpwr, try typing the words "find", "friends" and "sheep" in google

that should give you something more productive to do with your time than worry about words like mature.

I'm mortaly wounded 1980. I have no human friends and u have found me out. I talk to the trees but they don't listen to me. I was hoping u and I could be friends. No one else takes any notice of me but u do. U always reply 2 me. It makes me feel wanted.
