as a musician of way too many years, i don't think debates about personal taste are particularly useful or relevant, so i'll keep my personal opinion of Coldplay to myself...
having said that, they're not really a band that projects 'strength' are they? bit soft for me (not that our song has to be 'hard' per se).
the Coldplay crap risks 'trying to make fetch happen' like that cringe Never Tear Us Apart shit Pear do.
they wanna be Liverpool with You Never Walk Alone, so bad. the locals may love it, but YNWA has respect from those outside the club because it's baked into the club's identity/history. Coldplay/Never Tear Us Apart feels like marketing departments w/ too much time on their hands
the things that solidify a club identity come from the fan base. not marketing departments.
no marketer will ever come up with a 'club anthem' that takes.

I don't mind Coldplay - got a couple of their albums. Their music however does not suit a footy audience. I wish the club would stop this fascination with trying to turn us into a soccer club - port have ruined INXS. It is the most manufactured shite to watch.
