Think Sylvia would greatly benefit from the move, as would we.
Not a popular opinion I see but I'm a fan.

Obviously would be a downgrade on Daisy but he's a different player too, would add grunt and another dimension to the forward line. I'm positive a fresh start with a successful team will have a good impact on him.

Firstly...I'd like to say that I don't believe any rumour from SEN, and I also am confident that Daisy would stay.

But I would definitely happily take Sylvia. He is not the first highly rated player to struggle at Melbourne.

Reminds me a bit of how Moloney was treated towards the end. Now he is dominating at Brisbane.

Reckon he would be a good short term replacement for Didak who will likely retire at years end.

Would still look at him even if we retained Daisy...but we probably don't have the coin.

He would be a very handy half forward/part time midfielder. In a good team, he could be an awesome player.

I think we are quick to label players as 'inconsistent' when they play for bottom of the ladder teams. Pretty hard to be a forward for Melbourne right now.

Yes please sir.

He is a gun, and with the right club and right culture, he may actually play to his potential.

Playing him on a flank with stints in the midfield would be a nightmare for the opposition when you look at all the other blokes they would have to worry about.

On talent he strolls into our best 22, and the best bit is, he wouldn't - he would have to earn it for the first time in his career and that could see him actually work hard and dominate.

If Daisy goes he is certainly one to have a look at, can fill a similar role.

In terms of playing ability he is a goal kicking mid who is good overhead, strong in the contest. He receives most of the opposition attention at Melbourne. He will be a very damaging player at a stronger club. I could see him being rotated forward with him & Swan taking turns in the middle. Especially if they change the interchange rules again.

As a bloke and looking at the culture we want, attitude etc.... I am not so sure he is a good move. Have heard he is mates with some Pies players though.

I'd sooner have a bite at Dal Santo than Sylvia. If people think Sylvia would benefit from a deeper midfield, then try Dal Santo on the outside.

Collingwood will offer daisy 3 year deal 600k per year......................deal done.

He has plenty of time to re negotiate now he is on the long term injury list, what else is he gonna do?

We already have too many down hill skiers with questionable attitudes.. please no more !

We have enough fire power in the team, we now need to work on not conceding 120points every week and slyvia isn't going to help do that

Giddy Up. He has abit of the 'Darren Millane' about him.

Sylvia may be a headcase but how much of that can be attributed to Melbournes rubbish culture? He's one Melbourne player I'd have a nibble at. Tough uncomprimising HFF/midfield rotater. With Dids, Johnno and possible Krak hanging them up at end of the year, this is a good idea at the right price.

I dont think Thomas will leave, but I would take Sylvia at the right price and for the right reasons. If he wants to come to the club for a crack at a premiership and play in a winning side fine. But if he is just chasing coin that is a different story

Round 15-18 of 2010.

8 marks per game
5 tackles per game
1.25 goals per game

That's what he's capable of, who wouldn't mind that sort of player playing in black and white?

Kozi put together four great weeks once upon a time as well....perhaps we should chase him

If he willingly put his hand up and said he wanted to play for us, I'd have him every day of the week. Is tough, has a bit of mongrol about him and can be a match winner.

I understand peoples views about culture but every time a player is linked to our club they either have a poor attitude or are too injury prone. Lets be honest, we took the punt on Krak and that worked out a treat, you can't tell me Sylvia would be any more of a risk.

If he was made to be accountable and made to earn his position, his consistancy would lift - I mean, why would you bother putting out 110% every week in a side you know is going to lose?

I'd be guttered if we missed the chance and another club picked him up, and than we seen him flourish, but maybe thats just me.

Wow! Seriously picking up a bloke who has been in and out of the Melbourne team over the last few years? A player famous for not getting himself fit enough to be able to run both ways in a game and a reputation for having an appalling attitude?

I think people seriously misunderstand how important a strong culture is. Collingwood would not entertain the thought of Sylvia for one second.

I think you underestimate what a strong culture like ours, with the prospect of being involved in serious team success would do for a bloke like Sylvia. Definitely a guy who has not fully delivered on his potential, and a change of scenery would be absolutely ideal for him at this stage of his career.

I remember when we picked up a bloke from a struggling club who had talent but questionable attitude. He was seen as lazy, sporadic and there were concerns how he would fit into the club and make a positive contribution. His name was Paul Medhurst.
