I know there are a LOT of threads going around right now but thought we'd discuss some recent twitter posts by a few Collingwood boys. Which some, have left me confused.

I don't know what event Swanny was attending, but sometimes when you support a club for 30+ years, and you lose a Grand Final, the first thought in your mind isn't to go out to a function and whoop it up. I'm guessing a lot of players would have felt similarly. That doesn't mean it was a bandwagon or that people have jumped off.
 
I'm guessing Maxwell is complaining about media who stayed outside mad monday waiting to see if anything happened. He would make good money from Ch7, you can't complain about the media if you are in it and make money from it.
 
Poor form in a way, but everyone hurts. He was probably pissed off and rightly so, the thing about online text is you don't really get the tone or the chance to follow it up like elsewhere.

Having said that, the guy had a shit game, so he shouldn't be complaining.

Maxy, I get that totally.

If Swan is talking about the Family Day, which I assume he is, then he needs to pull his head in.

Easy to sit on your 800k p.a throne and play shit house on GF day then pot the people who bleed their hearts, souls and wallets into the club for being bandwagoners.

He could be talking about the media/fans outside their Mad Monday celebrations, but that doesn't really make much sense...

Swanny posted his "funny how there was 500 people....." tweet about 5 hours ago, so he is clearly talking about the mad Monday celebrations, and that the players are basically being left alone apart from a few die hards.

After we won the flag last year, the players would have been mobbed wherever they went, and I'd Swanny, in his obvious inebriated state is feeling a little down, missing the attention of all his fans.

Oh, poor Swanny.:(:p

As for Maxy, he's just telling the media to **** off, in a nice way.:cool:
 
No Swanny is referring the media - like last year they had heaps of photo journos following them around, so i'm guessing this year with the focus on Geelong no-one has gone to them.

Maxy is also referring to media who are no doubt camped outside the pub waiting for the players to fall outta the pub drunk and hoping for a story.

The pub was closed off to everyone today as a "private function" sign was posted on all doors and windows and the windows were blacked out with material to prevent the media from taking photos...so Maxy is saying in a nice way "hey get lost media".
 
Dissapointed in the media too. Seriously? Only 11 photos of the boys' Mad Monday costumes? I was hoping a full photoshoot of Jolly.

Na Swan wouldnt do that. You think he is that stupid to bag his own fans? With 800 he would obviously be reffering to the media.

Fair enough, I didn't know when he posted that tweet.

How is that funny though... I mean, does he expect the media/fans to be flocking to them to get photos of them drowning their sorrows?
Maxwell's tweeting his surprise that their are any media there at all, while Swan's amazed at their lack of interest.

Anyways.

Well said. We are supposed to just cop the loss in the neck and get on with it the next day? It is the supporter that ultimately pays for these guys and their lifestyle and I guess we choose when the f*** we feel like getting of our collective ar*es and fawn over them.

I personally applaud anyone that can string a sentence together on a smart phone after a brutal pub session. To be fair, they're normally crap at spelling, so it looks even better. Points for the coherent hashtag.

I dont think ti was family day.

He posted at like 9.30pm and mentioned only 8 people after 500 last year.

Family day last year had closer to 5 or 6 thousand and this year was just over 1000. So it seems maybe he was talking about the media. At least I hope he was.

I mean, if it WAS about the fans? Then isn't Swan being a bit hypocritical?

Last year he said:

"Stick with us because we're going back to back". Since we didn't go back to back, doesn't that mean we don't have to 'stick with them' anyway?

The bolded wouldn't be there if the rumours of Trav and the boys 'not liking' Bucks were true. Why wouldn't it be there? Because it wasn't necessary that it be there. He put it there because he meant it.

We'll be a better side next year, guaranteed*.

I don't recall Trav being one of the players said to not like Buckley, but there are a few who don't, I know of that.
