If somehow we manage to snag Hurley, which is unlikely..

But lets just entertain the thought, Scharenberg into defence, Howe moves forward.

A forward line with Moore, Howe, Fasolo and Elliott is extremely dangerous.

4 accurate set shots, all extremely capable of strong one grab marks and Howe and Elliott extremely proficient in marks taken at extremely high elevations.

Reid/Hurley combo is rock solid, Scharenberg is a quality user of the pill.
Get Ramsay and Sinclair back to add some dash off half back and all of a sudden we are looking really solid, now how about a decent game plan Bucks!??

Keeffe's trade value is very low, Essendon had a pick before us in the rookie draft so if they wanted him badly enough they could have got him.
A 1st rounder + Witts could get it done

They had the pick before us in the Rookie Draft, yes, but they risked that pick on Gach Nyuon who doesn't look likely? Shows they're keen to bolster their ruck stocks if you ask me.

So, let me get this right:

- Our second-string VFL ruck
- A drug cheat who hasn't played football for a year and wasn't in the best 22 when he was playing.
- Second round pick

For an All Australian centre half back in demand all around the competition?

A long 2 months indeed.

For starters, half of their list has missed a year for the same reason.

With that reason above, Witts is valuable to them. Not to mention that Witts has had an unlucky run this year to injury and is only missing out because of Grundy's form. That doesn't make him a second string ruck by any stretch.

And again, if he nominates us it also tends to help.

Like I said, it was a starting point. Did you miss that bit? Any suggestions as to how you'd approach it?

I imagine you would have to put up currency like Sidebottom if you want to get Hurley and I cant see the club being prepared to do that.

Throwing up names like Witts and other NQR is just not going to get it done and we have no first round pick to play with.

I would imagine that we would be looking to get Hurley as a free agent. We do not have another way of acquiring him unless Brown moves on and get a priority pick as compensation which could be used towards the final outcome.

No, no - I got the part where you said it was a starting point. I just thought it was a very funny starting point.

Have some perspective, think about what you'd take as an Essendon list manager - pay lip service to making your trades even slightly believable from both ends. Do us all the favour.

Would you take one of Richmond's rookie-listed players and Shaun Hampson for Ben Reid? Or would you laugh?

If Hurley DID happen to pick us, which, by the way is a million to one shot, I don't think we get him from Essendon without the following happening:

- Hurley demanding Collingwood, then threatening to sue Essendon and leave without any compo at all if a deal isn't done.
- Collingwood giving next year's future first round pick
- Nathan Brown

Essendon are rebuilding - the only thing that can get them back up the ladder is first round picks - that is what Hurley is worth and that's what we'll have to pay. Nathan Brown gives them leadership and a quality key back for 3-4 years.

I would then use what we get for Marley Williams to improve our draft placing for Brown/Daics and hope that Witts & fillers can get WHE done.

You want to trade next years first round pick, which is around 8-14 and Nathan Brown for Michael Hurley who is an all australian and can play at either end?

Anyone rubbed out from the essendon doping scandal is a free agent and can leave Essendon without a trade being done.

This includes Hurley.
They can. But they won't. Wishful thinking is nice though.

What about, and hear me out here before you shout me down, Jamie Elliott?

With Fasolo and Howe we have his position well covered, and we arguably need a class KPD more than we need a class forward flanker.

We've already adjusted to playing without him.

I'd hate to see him go, but agree with you we'd need to offer up something decent.

Don't think we can trade next year's pick but thanks for the vote of confidence re next year. Most opposition fans would be falling over themselves to say we'd be falling down to the bottom four! ;)

Mate, if you do better than a top 10 pick and a best 22 key position player for a bloke you could lose for nothing, you can come talk to me.

Hurley was stagnating and not reaching his potential as a forward, so a good coaching move helped him find his niche at CHB. Let's not pretend that he's a gun at both ends please.

Wow sounds like you know everything...

Got the lotto numbers for tonight?
It's pretty unlikely to happen. But it's like having the PSD as a viable threat if Essendon were to be completely unreasonable. No-one ever goes through with the threat, but it does encourage a willingness to deal.

It's not exactly a mind blowing deduction that Essendon players will take the simplest route and ask for a trade rather than going through the hassle and inevitable media circus that would surround going to the grievance tribunal.

Lotto numbers are 18, 7, 24, 32, 33, 1 supps 16, 29

Its a free hit on trading guys.

All we need to do is convince Hurley... no draft picks or players given in return... just a thankyou card to Mr Dank.

(Stop the trade scenarios for Hurley please... we can get him for NOTHING)

Nah, not as easy as that
He CANNOT just walk, there is a whole heap of stuff to happen prior to that

Thanks. Feel free to piss off from our board if all you have to offer is denigrating our players. There's a general trades board or your own board if that's how you want to be.

Unfortunately just telling it how it is. Imo don't think he'd play in our back 6 anyway.
