Collingwood are anything but shoe-ins, are they in trouble?

I have a question for all the “ pies are cooked “ posters

How confident are you the Giants won’t do that to you ?

Yeah it's more that the Pies have gone for an insane top-up of oldies-piled-on-oldies.

Most other clubs have a normal age distribution, or the complete opposite like the Baby Tigers.

Every game the Pies lose will blow up like this, as there is literally no next year for this list.

Richmond lose to GWS and we can talk about 'learnings and hope'

Pies lose to GWS...as we have seen, there is just nothing good to say for the Pies.

I wouldn't use the H word with Richmond for at least 2 more years.

Learnings, certainly.

Make us look like a bunch of ancient geriatric spuds that have built their entire gameplan around feeding one player the ball non stop and blowing enough smoke up his arse to have him cry to umps every time a player goes near him? Pretty confident.

As for being beaten fairly comprehensively... We've matched up decently with them over the last few years so while I wouldn't be completely shocked, I'd certainly back us to put up a far better fight than the cooked Pies did today.

Callahan was doing a young Danger impression all day , if he keeps that up and it works the same when Tom Green comes back in ….I’m not sure anyone has played this Giants team before

Couldn't see them getting permission to take <2 rd 1 picks 2023-4-5-6, especially given their only other one was p25 in 2023. The easy way around it would be to trade a player out in 2025 and get a late rd 1 pick for him in either the 25 or 26 draft. There don't seem to be a lot of obvious candidates to trade out though.
Maybe , nick daicos. Thats about it

And over the last few years some fantastic riveting games of footy. Don't recall any massive blowouts there since we were contending for the spoon 5-6 years back.

Perhaps an insight for what the future holds for the Pies?

That would solve Collingwood's rd 1 pick problem. Would also solve make the world's scaredest footballer another club's problem into the bargain.

Speaking of the urgent retreat from danger specialist, there seems to be a thread about him that has popped up at Bay 13. :)

14 out of 16 goals feels like a "massive blowout", last year?

It's a terrifying place to visit, for any side Screenshot_20250310_014235_Chrome.jpg

Possibly, but in terms of key match ups across the field we generally compete fairly well against them.

Curnow vs Buckley
Mckay vs Taylor
Weitering vs Hogan
Cripps vs Green
TDK vs Briggs
Walsh vs Callaghan/Kelly in the past

Most of these tend to break relatively even, which has meant we've had some fantastic games vs the Giants the last few years. Same with the Dees for the same reasons.

That said, they were my tip for the flag before the season began with Freo as runner up, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them belt some very good teams when they get their full assortment of stars back and fully fit.

That's over egging the pudding bit.

It's a petting zoo with a couple of hundred apathetic supporters.

They're a good, solid team wherever they play. All of the other interstate teams have a stronger home ground advantage.

We lost by 12 points. You just lost by 52 with them missing half their side.

I know which one I'd rather.
It was a vicious drubbing and the Blues never recovered, dropping from 2nd to 9th before falling back into the 8, no wonder you're dodging round O

If you want to deflect from the terrible performance today be my guest. Not going to change the fact that what the Pies showed today was nothing short of abysmal.

With the oldest list in history there'd be danger signs flashing all over Pie land if that sort of form continues through the season.

Whilst i do agree that Collingwood are in for an extended period of pain whilst rebuilding at the worst possible time 2026 onward with very little young talent and their best players looking past it and in 2 years time more will be added to that list

But todays game i dont believe was the result of just the list quality but more to do with the game plans of both sides being very similar (Richmond's 2017-2020 frantic running messy game plan the consists mainly on pressure and running foward)

Kingsley & MaCrae both coach the same game plan but GWS has more talent all across the ground and are younger and fitter and more talented

Collingwood could just as easily come out and play the same game plan at the MCG and blow port away
but they are a 7-13 team this year

"I'd certainly back us to put up a far better fight than the cooked Pies did today" was the comment I responded too

Well last time you were there you got reamed, just pointing that out [emoji106]

For money + to platy infront of 80k + to play alongside Nick Daicos mostly.

AFL wont let Collingwood be a bottom 4 side again in our lifetimes.

Hopper and Taranto have ruined that for everybody.

Players won't want to risk following their path of 'big crowds' to play for a team who have messed up their list management priorities.

I can only see Collingwood just about scraping into the top eight at best, and i can easily see them finishing down in 12th or 14th place this year.

Fair play they won the flag in 2023 but i felt the only way was down for them from there.

So far i see no reason to change my mind on or revise that opinion.

I understand the excitement of the powerhouse team of the competition having a bad game, but I just hope we don't have too many more games this season where we kick 4 goals 13 behinds to start the game against one of the best interstate teams in the competition at their home ground...
