Not doubting that but Hawthorn and Sydney were ahead of us.

Out of the three teams that were ahead of us, Adelaide and Sydney we beat away. Hawthorn was the only team that we looked to be a fair few goals in front of us. Leon Davis, a fully fit Krakouer and a second ruck that isn't Dawes would have made a difference enough to at least give us a chance against Hawthorn.

Would we have even won a flag if it was not for the succession plan? Maxy says that there was an increased sense of urgency from Mick when he had an end date. Dose that mean Mick was bludging and pulled the finger out when he knew it was about to end?

It gave the team a greater focus and hence motivation. Think about when you have an assignment due. The closer you get to the deadline the harder you work.

I didn't do homework talking to the wrong guy

Fair enough. You get the idea though right? When the end is in sight sometimes it gives you the motivation needed to reach the next level.

Yeah I get that you work harder but, with out the succession plan he may have never got that extra motivation he needed

Personally I think the succession plan was responsible for winning the 2010 flag. It was unfortunate to say the least that Mick let his ego get in the way of winning 2011. He could have retired a Collingwood legend.

I don't think it was that I think it is the fact he did not manage the list properly, injuries on the day and the fact he has never been a good game day coach

I just wish Mick had retired after this speech. It has been a real shame that he decided to coach Carlton and has sullied his reputation.

Ok before I commence I would like to say that I am a big admirer of Nathan Buckley but no one is bigger than our club
Collingwood is the biggest club in the land and we will not put up with mediocrity for very long.

Firstly lets discuss the Malthouse - Buckley handover.
Malthouse although not the easiest person to get along with has his faults ,but he had the respect of most of the players he coached at Pie land.If he was left as coach could we have flaged back to back 2010-11 if we didn't have the public airing about contracts etc ?.....He knew his time was limited and he threw the spanner in the works result we lost the 11 flag ! I believe if things were more settled maybe we would have won the flag gone back to back,It was alarming then we we got smashed by Geelong last round by 80 points that things we not right moving into finals.I know buckley has addressed this about the derailing of the season ,but maybe the fact that players knew Malthouses tenure was coming to an end that some of our key players like dids,Thomas,Jolly, shaw etc threw in the towel even before the finals started,Geelong were licking their lips the rest is history. I understand that yes we had players with injuries but so did Geelong and the rest of the teams in the finals that year.
Had we had left Malty as head coach maybe the players would have given that extra 5% to get over the line and gone back to back,Malty may have gotten another flag between 11 and 14 and he would have been content to hand over the reigns now.......We will never know but yes this could have been a possibility don't you think?
Ok we have Buckley now moving into his 4th season as Pies coach. Here is a rookie coach with virtually no AFL experience doing his apprenticeship with the biggest club in the land.
Bucklley was an excellent player has got a very good footy brain and its surprising that for a exquisite player who now coaches the biggest club in the land the team he has currently cant hit the side of a barn yard door nor do they know how to execute a game plan. This year the players looked lost out there kicking skills were poor and the injuries well. One would think a player of buckleys calibre would recruit only players with great skills yes ?.......No ! Why?

I will tell you why.Because its not all Buckleys fault its the crappy people surrounding him.I stated this a week ago in another thread.
Aside from Scott Burns clear out all the assisistants and start again.Go to the 3 top clubs and rip their hearts out pronto. Also our sports science dept and development depts. rip them apart and go and get the best for goodness sake Davaron is shite......Can you hear me out there? He is shite ! He has to go he is a tri- athlete sports science guy he cannot find the balance between for a strong training regime for afl players look at his track record tell us everything wake up Eddie !
Good point this year,,,is that Buckley has introduced 17 new kids
Bad Point... Too many injuries and players don't seem to understand the game plan.Whats the game plan can anyone tell me?
Because if we do not fix theses areas forget the players but we would have set ourselves backwards 10 years
Here is my question to everyone out there. If we donnot change things pronto will this current regime have set our club back 10 years ?..........Ok armchair specialists throw in your two bobs worth !

Get over Malthouse. Seriously, let it go.
