Is there a need for racism you redneck, freckle face, pie eating, beer drinking, yobbo? Are you still upset because your great great so and so is a convict? Or, is it because you cant get your fat clacker off the couch for long enough to enjoy anything but having a few frothies with your other convict related mates at the local? Its 2006 ****wit and in case you havent noticed more than half the population in your state is made up of what you so eloquently term greasy wogs. Melbourne wouldnt be much of a place without them.

What about local leagues, such as the SANFL?

If you call that poor standard, you're not a true footy fan.

And who made you the leading authority on what i can and cannot like? The SANFL? If it was such a high standard of footy why do we hardly hear a whimper from it? And what about the VFL? Why do you see on weekends empty fields? Why don't you see the grounds packed.

Anyway Drummond you are irrelevant b/c your main mission during the world cup has been to ridicule the game as much as you can without providing any real insight why you think the code sucks apart from “boring” etc etc.

My point is stop bagging out the code and stop being so precious when somebody dares to say anything about Aussie Rules. Why do we who love both codes have to sit by and listen to hate and vitriol from afl fans?

Why do you all have this opinion that your code is perfect? If this is the case why hasn’t the game been picked up like futbol was when the English exported it to the word?

Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

Stop with the racist remarks eh. Following footy has nothing to do with race, im a 'wog' but i hate soccer and love AR! :)

There are still a lot of stuff ups from umpires in most matches. Sorry but the AFL is not immune from bad officiating. Its actually worst.
That's because the AFL umpire an increasingly complicated game. Soccer is pretty simple - which is probably a good thing, because it ensures less stuffups. The main negative of soccer is the poor flow of games - it's frustrating to watch a foul every few seconds, not because they're frequent, but because of how soft they are. It's happening alot more in the AFL with soft 50s and frees - I even cringe when my team is favoured from such a decision.

Those are the negatives, but apart from that both are good games to watch. I follow Australia in the World Cup because I like the sport, I'm not someone who follows Australia in caber tossing like most soccer bandwagoners are. It's the lack of media coverage of soccer that makes me a bandwagoner for events only such as the World Cup, Confed Cup, World Cup Qualifiers etc.

Anyway I'm predicting we won't see much on soccer in the coming months, even for the Asian Club Championship. But I hope the level of coverage is increased somewhat.

why can't you get it into your feeble brain that this is a football board and hence the majority of posters are here to talk about the greatest game on earth ..and that is Aussie Rules ...I find soccer dull and boring as do many many others who have been spoilt by the excitement and action packed game of Aussie rules . if you don't like it then go to the soccer boards and whinge

Because the English and other European nations pretty much colonised everywhere, Africa, South America, Sub continent...they took soccer with them! also it's simple for the Poorer nations to play!

On the quizzes that SEN have from time to time, one of the questions was, what is the lowest winning score ever in afl/vfl match?

The answer was 1 point. If I rememebr correctly it in the early 1900's in a game between st.kilda and geelong, I dont remember who won.

1 point may be the lowest score ever, but certainly not the lowest winning score ever in an afl/vfl match.

1.8 (14) is the lowest winning score by Essendon in 1897. The match had 1.16 (22) scored, the lowest aggregate score of all time.

You'll love this then.

"This World Cup is littered with cheats, cry babies and drama queens. Of course, respect for the referee, the rules, the fans and the game itself is the biggest difference between the two sports. What sort of love and respect is there for Pele's 'Beautiful Game' when the end seems to justify the means?"

From UK's Telegraph newspaper today. The other sport is RU.

The article is ture. Soccer was the beautiful game and in some extents still is, however the diving the other problems have made the game worse.

Ah, so while you are accusing someone of racism, you go on to describe most Australians as frecklefaced, pie eating, beer drinking yobbos, and ofcourse convicts. May I be so humble as to ask you to pack your bags and **** off to the SOCCER board.
Or better still pack your bags and **** off completely.

Why o why do we still have to put up with this attitude in Australia? I thought it was 2006 and 1956.

And for **** sake you have as much right being here as a migrant. After all unless you are an aboriginal this is not your land nor do you own it. We are all migrants, some flew here in comfort, while others arrived in boats chains and with bad conditions.

Yes indeed, why oh why do we ( who are of celtic/anglo heritage ) have to be described as convicts, yobbos, pie eaters and beer guzzlers ( not that I mind the last two ) .It is indeed 2006, so whilst I agree with you arguing against the " greasy wog " stereotype, please give the other stereotyping a big miss as well.
And still **** off to the soccer board:D

Maybe he was reacting to the racist taunt? Why are you so quick to play the victim?

No no no. Don't turn this into a "what the hell you on about" type reply.

FWIW i think we need to drop all racist remark. Ok.

If soccer people want their game to be known over here as "football" why do they still call the national team "The Socceroos" ????

Ooooooh ponder that one people ;)

Wow, what an original thought. I haven't heard that one before. Got any other gems Einstein?

Re: Can you imagine playing AFL for 2 hours without any team scoring....

soccer isn't exactly boring, it can be as exciting as lawn bowls. I guess you can find excitement in any sport.

Football is much more exciting, skillfull, athletic, fast paced, and tougher than soccer.

Soccer is much more frustrating to watch and its no suprise to me the number of fights and riots there are after soccer matches
