Game was on delay by about 5 minutes. GF decided to call me from Australia and say sorry. Stormed out of the pub and forgot to pay bar tab, so chased down the road! I will remember that more than the result!

**** those green maggots for cheating!

Working hard Dan!

Moving into day 8 of casing/BOPs etc here. :)

Also Lids was clearly tripped in the 3rd quarter.

So mistakes aside, we were still robbed by pissy umpiring.
They made up for that decision pretty quickly with the 5m kick that was awarded a mark
Didn't make the most of it though, Lids was running into an open goal when he was tripped

My concern now is actually making the finals. We are one game ahead of ninth with the Hawks next week. After that we play three teams vying with us for 5th to 8th (Adelaide, Collingwood and North) and two teams we should beat in the Bombers and Gold Coast. That said, the Bombers are much improved from their worst form of the season and if GC have Ablett in the side they could do anything.

If we get ninth I'm giving footy away . lol

I don't remember a loss hurting like that for a while. Probably the elimination final 2013 when we should have beaten Carlton.
Doesn't seem to be too many games you lot "shouldn't win".

Most gutted ive felt in any game...top four on line ..especially with the games coming up...it wasnt that we lost it was the way we lost...it felt like that Game where Karmichael hunt kicked goal after ther siren....there seriously was no reason we should have lost that game no matter how bad we missed set shots all day...it came down to we needed to just chip it round for 60 seconds there was totally no risk in that....none at all ..going down the centre was the most gut wrenching thing ive ever seen..... it was damn stupid and will ultimately cost us.....a no excuse loss was totally preventable...the only way i will recover from this is if we beat Hawthorn...we could be out of the 8 within a week....dumbest and worst kick ever...

Yer big big brain fade it was. Hawhtorn are a better team than Freo by far so going to be very hard to get win there. I reckon if we had won today then finals was a guarantee. Now not so much now.

Really lost the unloseable game....win that and were in...now were in real trouble the nxt two weeks...dont mind losing but not like that it was terrible..and im also totally sick of the amount of free kick oposition teams get in there forward line...today was the worst ever...and we hardly..as usual never get frees up forward...

oh i agree shouldn't have lost that today and agree pressure gonna come now as dogs and roos have easy runs home and crows are playing some good footy to. Yep said in another thread umpiring is terrible, watched it against GWS the other week we played them and it was pathetic and again today.

As poor as the skill errors were when kicking at goal, as poor as umpiring was, the one thing we have complete control over is deciding to stick to team rules under pressure. Houli completely ignored them and panicked.

I put lack of discipline and composure under pressure on a whole other teir above skill errors.

Houli crumbles under pressure time and time again and some of his other efforts during the game were disgustingly poor. He should have erradicated this from his game by now its time to upgrade at halfback.

And finally he has a lack of visible aggression and intent - I am guessing it doesnt exist as i cant remmeber a moment when he has shown any ... ever!

It was the first loss ive been upset with in a while. Not due to the poor goal kicking or umpiring, but due to how badly we failed under pressure at that key moment. Today that rested on Houli shoulders and he is a player I have had massive queries on for most of his career at Richmond.

You could easily replace Houli with Conca, Ellis, Knights, and not miss a beat.

Real bitter pill to swallow, Always tough losing a big game like this.
Once again goal kicking has cost us the game, 18 behinds from gettable shots isn't good enough.
That being said, the brand of footy we are producing against the top sides has been a pleasure to watch. after being deprived of any real succes for a long time, I really think we have the right foundation for succes now.

Now to all the houli bashers out there, pull your heads in. I was raging after the siren went aswel. Pretty obvious that he made a mistake and should of hit the boundary line, or maybe if it came off we win. not sure how he cracked under pressure, if that was the case he would have put it on the full. To me he had the plums to do what he did, albeit probably the wrong decision at the time.
The great only become the great through failure and mistakes. Don't forget that tiger heads!
Eat em alive

For all of Cotch's improvement this year in both form and leadership he is pathetic from set shots. I think we all felt he would miss that. I reckon that cost us just as much as Houli's kick.
wow really? it was the team missing shots that cost us not just an one player, take out cotchs involvement around the ground and we wouldnt even have the chance to score the few goals we did score

Yes you are right but good teams when playing bad can still pinch it thats why with 1 minute left on the clock you supposed to kick long and near the boundary if can't pinch hit someone short not down the corridor when they were only 2 players. Sure bad kicking cost us but that silly kick cost us more.
Every Time i see Luv houli posts i boil.LOL.

It amazes me how well we are going considering the plethora of players we are carrying through each game.
Hunt is diabolical. Griffiths is a pussy. Newman (although he contributed yesterday) is finished. And throw the likes of Morris who has played the majority of the year.

Also can someone tell me what Jake Batchelor's role is? Who did he play on yesterday? Who did he play on against St Kilda?
If he is shutting down the 3rd tall then so be it, but he provides no run and barely touches the ball. It comes down to coaching because we all know he is a good kick and can find the ball.

GAJ is most likely out for the rest of the year. 4 weeks is best case scenario.

Doesn't seem to be too many games you lot "shouldn't win".

You got that message from my post? I think you have extrapolated my post a little too far. You need to learn to read between the lines.

Against Carlton in the EF we were well ahead and on top at half time only for a complete turnaround in the second half. Carlton played better, kudos to them but it was still gut wrenching as a Richmond supporter to watch. Last night we should have been further ahead and the game put out of dispute but due to errors we lost. When you lose such important games in that way it just hurts more. I didn't feel this bad after the losses against Melbourne and WB even though I thought on paper we should win because they just played better. Your comment is just plain wrong!

Carefull, Houli is a protected species around these parts. Only positive stuff and dragging up meaningless stats will do.

He failed to commit to the contest many times yesterday with half arse efforts .

Devastated  this game hurt cause we threw it away....Found myself talking bout it for hours on end and kept talking bout it when i got home then watched the replay @ 11pm and thought the result could be diff  but no that same horror Houli kick down the line when a safe kick to the flanks wouldve sufficed with only a min or so on the clock....You only try that kick when ur behind on the scoreboard and trying to snatch the game back.

We had some hurlers of misses that cant be ignored but i will say up until that last kick by houli we were in front so everything before that means diddly squat, freo didnt do some great play that won them the game we gifted it to them by houli kicking 3 onto 1, u can only go by the moment and that was it play the bloody safe option and we win its not rocket science!!!

PS: Wont get dropped nor should he but i will say now he needs to be superseded to many errors week in week out, cant trust him in critical moments again......

I haven't felt this kind of frustration since our 2013 loss against Fremantle that was by 1 point and cost us a top 4 spot that year, since we finished only a half a game behind Sydney that season. This game may have just done the same to our top 4 chances

I'll get over it eventually though. All I want Richmond to do this year is to win a final, whether it is a qualifying final or elimination final and that is a pass from me

I agree and ironically I remember still remember a game at the G which I think was 2012 against Freo which was one of the worst umpired games I have ever seen. Not that I hold grudge
