Ok. We're playing the bottom side. It's an interstate side, and they're playing in Victoria. They're missing their best player.

We are deserved favorites.

Could we please, please just once, just once! have one of those simple, by-the-numbers wins - good lead at quarter-time, hold them off in the second, skip away in the third and cruise home in the fourth to win by 30-40 points - you know, the way the favorite team is meant to?

We just don't have them at Richmond - we had one last year with the West Coast game, but on the whole our wins are struggles. Come from behind dramas.

Look, I'll take any win - a dodgy interchange decision in our favor is fine, if it means we get the points. Maybe I'm being too picky, considering how few wins we've actually had recently (last 30 years to be exact:cool:).

But I'd like a nice, comfortable night at the footy - not too much tension, enjoy our team playing well, be magnanimously condescending towards the opposition supporters (don't you love that when they do it to us?), and travel home to a good night sleep.

Is that too much to ask? Just once?

(PS - I know I've jinxed it now, but in that case I've been jinxing it for 30 years, so i don't really care about that by now).

More interested in the manner in which we play and eliminating things like a poor starts, disposals, etc The result and margin will take care of itself if we can erradicate the things that make us a bottom 4 side

I reckon youre right on the money with your post Mellow. And I reckon thats exactly what Dimma's trying to instill in the kids too. This season hasnt been about a 'win at all costs' approach, it's basically about learning the game plan and playing your role.

Having said that I hope we smash 'em! :thumbsu:

We should win but we haven't played 4 good quarters for a long long time.

Another slow start would have major alarm bells ringing for me, because it has been happening all year and our coach hasn't found a sollution yet.

Surely they have been altering the pre-game routine to try and address this.

Not many sides do play 4 quarters, it's very rare. But I think the difference is, good sides win their good quarters by 5 goals, and lose their bad quarters by 1-2 goals. So a 2-3 quarter performance is enough for them to comfortably win the game.

havent seen you guys play a good first quater for a long time (wce last year?), would be nice to jump out of the blocks and put some scoring pressure on the opposition from the get go.

Imo rich are at least a 1 goal per quater side better, and have bet them to cover the 22.5 line accordingly.

a comfortable 6 goal win is my prediction.

Me too! really hoping we run away with it in the 2nd half! need to really make a statement to show we can dominate a side when we're on!

BTW how bloody good is Dusty???? is it too early to put some cash on him making the AA side?

Really happy that we won, I'm over the moon we have actually beaten a side we were supposed to have beaten but that 3rd quarter was not good enough. They looked lazy and it looked like they thought they already had it won. For a young side so hungry to win, they need to learn how to grind other sides into the ground when in control of the match, a better side would have taught us a lesson.

Great tutorial for Hardwick to use though.

Remember we are a very young team so can't be expected to have the fitness to be up for 4 quarters just yet.
In the 3rd quarter there was Tuck who had already been subbed off for a rib issue, Newman was off with tight hammies and Gus was knocked out so our rotations would have been stuffed until we were able to get Newman & Gus back on.

Agree Inf. Was worried when Gus went off and Tuck had been subbed early, and they were yet to even use their sub I think.

To Gus' credit, he came back on and helped curb their ruck dominance for a bit late in the game.

To be honest, the best way for us to resolve any fitness issues is simply hit a few more f'ing targets. We turn it over so often, we spend double the energy turning around to chase.

Freo will hurt us next week if we do the same as tonight.

I thought darn crap in the 1st quarter!! , we were fighting hard to get a score, then stupid easy turn overs , not hitting a target, crazy handball's ----then the Lion's' seem to be in acre's of space in the middle & wing's without an opponent, at one stage it looked like a NRL movement ..
really good efforts by Robin & Jake , but would have been a game Ty V could have imposed himself & kicked 3-4 goals
