Anything can happen, I just think 400 is an unijured 20 year career, and to think the games record will be broken regularly in the future is pure fantasy.Fair enough. For me its just that the pool of players who could potentially play 400 games for all those reasons you mentioned will increase for the next decade or so, then it'll probably plateau out.
You said Sidebottom won't play 400 but even if Pies lose the PF he's still two seasons (without finals) from 400 games. Its still a possibility for him. Same with Dangerfield (and you can imagine his ego is big enough to drive him onward whereas imo Sidebottom most likely only plays another year, especially if he drops off significantly.)
List sizes are smaller than they have been for years recently and yet there's still a good chance we see four players retire having played over 380 games across the next two or three seasons (counting Boak this year.) IE Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Pendlebury and Boak, 40% of the all time total of players to last that long. (That's what I mean by the pool of potential players increasing over time.)
At least one of them will play 400 games (ie already has) and one more is a 50/50 chance imo (Dangerfield). Dangerfield would make it three this decade. Sidebottom is a chance but unlikely, under 30% imo.
If Geelong or the Pies fall off a cliff, they are gone just like Boaky. They are simply lucky to be in sides that are contending.
Danger kicked 28 goals this season. There are young fellas out there that can kick more goals for about a third of his wage.
He's earned it and good luck to him.
If Gee or Coll win another flag, I think the player retires personally.
