Just watched the tape. Jako, the term was "bruise free football". Not "un-bruised", or "not bruising".

His grasp on the English language is becoming more tenuous as each day passes. Despite this Jako is a silver tongue compared to Shaw. Each game is worth ten? Bluey would be happy with that.

He was inferring that we had been accused of this over here all last week?

I don't recall reading or hearing this anywhere.

I am pretty sure he was getting mixed up with the sledge that Mitch Robinson from Carlton gave Melbourne after they played them a few weeks ago.

So not only did he have the wrong term but also the wrong team!

Classic Jackoism!

Who knows what other misplaced words of wisdom float around that head of his.

Not much in broadcast skills on offer today.

Agreed.

I went to the game and was surprised at the skills shown considering the wind, very wet conditions, plus it was fing freezing.

When I watched the replay, apparently we played the worst football of the year and should have been run over by GoldCoast. Very disappointing considering Healey was commentating.

I'm not sure what was funnier, confusing Roger hayden with Grover, or saying during the 3rd quarter that Matera needed to get more of the ball after having only 4 touches "for the game", he was the sub.

It's embarrassing that these clowns can turn up doing no research and still get paid. What is worse is Fox commentate most of the games for Freo so it's not like they don't see Freo often either.

Correct Mem, they are resting on their laurels as ex players. Too Lazy/stupid to do any research on the playing list.

Fox should start hiring professional ' voices ' for calling games, not Shawlike dumb ex footballers.

Just call the game as it happens, we don't want to hear your shitfull insights into how you think the game should be played.

Hopefully he jumps on board the commentary team.

Exactly.

It is the prevailing negative overtones used when discussing Fremantle, as a football club and a it's players. It's existed for quite some time now and for the most part accepted as normal.
Lets be honest, if you just listened to the general diatribe concerning our club around BF or some media stories you wouldn't think we have managed to stick in the top 8 all season with a significant amount of player injuries coupled with the fluctuating form and player confidence that tends to go hand in hand with a large ongoing injury list.
Freo' are currently placed 6th, West coast 5th, yet the tendency for overbearing negativity still pervades. One could be mistaken for thinking we are on the bottom of the ladder.

I'm not saying critical analysis and debate is wrong, infact we should strive to discuss our club without bias or personal agenda and examine the facts. Critical analysis is good. Ongoing and incorrect negative banter is wrong, and it is driven firstly but these unskilled commentators. The tone and misinformation they spread forth tends to stick with the mindless masses and their fellow sport journo'. Seriously, how hard is it to get a players name correct or to NOT theorise incredible reasons when a Freo' player comes of the field injured ie Grover in the Melbourne match. Look at the game we just won against the Gold Coast. If you read some posts around BF or various media match reports, you would think it was the most vile 50 point win that ever occurred. Perspective is an interesting and individual thing.

With everything that has counted against Freo' this season, I wonder if FFC actually manages to hang tough and make the finals, which will be the first back to back final series if we do achieve this, what kind of light this will be portrayed in?

Put it this way: 80% of the teams in the comp right now would be bottom 4 if they had the same amount of injuries we have

I think being 8-6 is an incredible achievement, but apparently only Hawthorn can have injuries - worthy of note. the media seem to acknowledge we have a few injuries but are frothing at the mouth about the injuries poor old hawthorn ar having

Very well said NS.

I have contacted Foxtel about Shaw, I'm just sick of the sh#t that comes out of his mouth. I encourage other Foxtel subscribers to voice their concerns as well.

I don't know what it is about AFL but the standard of commentary is really concerning. I'm sick of listening to stupid ex-players/coaches barrack for one side.

'Delicious' Cyril is a media darling.;)

Shaw's "each game is worth 10" pearler in regards to the Gold Coast's young players was interesting. I would like to hear him detail the reasons why this is so. It's just a throw away comment, but it reveals the intelligence we are speaking of here. He is one of this guys that is overly critical of brief moments within a game. He can break down 1 and a half seconds of gameplay into a vast narrative, where some player HAS to be ridculed and is 'not good enough'. Ironically, these incidents seem to be only black and white for Tony Shaw, no shades of grey. The scary thing is compared to other Fox sports employee's such as Danny Frawley, his comes across like Stephen Hawking. Wake up Foxsports and raise the standard.

Brad Johnson was surprisingly very refreshing on the couch last night replacing Roos

Also, they mentioned that it was "insulting" to Pav to have NN on the cover of the AFL record, when it was his 250th on Footy Classified (had it taped and would not have watched it if it weren't for the mention of Pav that someone mentioned)

Can you imagine what on earth was going through the minds of the Collingwood and Richmond football departments when they hired Shaw and Frawley as senior coaches?

Their stupidity and lack of knowledge is beyond belief, it is staggering that a bunch of people paid good money to run clubs could put these buffoons in charge of the playing list.

For the love of God, can you put in a complaint about Mark Ricciuto, Probibly knows his stuff, but how annoying is he. The others I can zone out, but can this bloke, or don't let him leave Adelaide.....:thumbsd:

Felt the pain on the weekend. Only watched the first half but was muttering the correct names after ever wrong call by the commentator for the entire match.

At least Frawley is funny. Shaw just walks in to places and says "I'm the 1990 Premiership captain" and gets any jobs he wants in Victoria.

I have a strong suspicion the "Adelaide Roo" may pop up with Healy & Dumbo, On The Couch next Monday. How to ruin a good programme in one breath.

Thumbs up to Brad Johnson, made alot of sense.

On the Couch is quickly being put in the shade by the other programs on Fox.

If you want gossipy analysis that focuses on footy from the political side, there's AFL 360. If you want tactical analysis that focuses on preparation and game day stuff, there's AFL Insider. Game-by-game highlights, you have Winners, and AFL Teams does the only substantial lead-in analysis.

The only weaker program is After the Bounce, almost entirely related to Damian Fleming, whose brand of humour makes The Footy Show look like a highbrow comedy show written by Woody Allen and Larry David.

If On the Couch is to remain interesting, they'd be best booting Mike Sheahan. He's useless.

At least Frawley is funny.

Totally, totally disagree.

Dunstall strikes me as a pretty intelligent and witty guy but he's completely dragged down by that Spud (apt nickname) sitting next to him, determined to continually interrupt with his brainless bogan humour.

I used to enjoy Before the Bounce but it didn't take long before Frawley's attempts to turn it into another pre-school humour Footy Show put me off.

Yeah it's time to mash the Spud. Dunstall is actually one of the best commentators about. I think it was Adelaide-Swans he was commentating on last weekend and his analysis was spot on. Liam Pickering was good also, best boundary rider going round atm and, unlike our Jako, doesn't have a fatal disconnect between what he thinks and what actually comes out of his mouth.

Would love to have a team of BT, Dunstall, Lloyd (Special comments), Pickering (boundary riding) doing our games.

I can't remember the last time I have heard the Dennis/Bruce combo for a Freo game. Wonder if Bruce would get more excited over a Ballantyne running goal than what BT does...
