Man, footy's an emotional game, isn't it?

I was hoping you guys would get there (screaming at the TV 'n all), but it wasn't to be.

Honestly shattered for you at the moment, I really am.

Nothing's going to ease the pain for you now, so I won't come up with any old clichés.

yeh i was at a pub in melb watching the game, all neutrals along with myself were cheering freo on. The freo chants were huge at the game. Heads up guys as i think your premiership is not far away.

Bad luck guys they are never easy to win.

I can still remember how gutted :( I was after Hawthorn beat us in 91 but the defeat made the victory in 92 ever so special.

Take some solace from the fact that you have had a magnificent season . :thumbsu:

The inroads that you have made this season will hold you in good stead for the future.

You should all be pretty bloody proud of those in charge of your Club as they have steered you from mediocrity to now being a genuine threat.
 
So sad for you guys. Mzungu is amazing! Obviously so are Pav and Sandi...sorry guys...was hoping the poo and wee would lose again.
 
I was in the same spot as many of you blokes and trust me it sucks big time. You may not have won the cup this year but you've won the respect of 99% of AFL supporters IMO. Many of us including my self laughed at you when you were a basket case but now you are a force and one to be respected and reckoned with. Baby steps last year. Massive leap this year. I wouldn't put it past your boys to go the full distance in the near future.

Your fans deserve all the credit they get. Coming out in droves from so far away and the Freo chant was fantastic. Kudos to all who made their way over to the G and those cheering loud at home.

These moments of bitterness are what make the great moments special. Your time will come and it will be all the sweeter. These are the moments that build culture and character and your boys got plenty of it. Sit back, relax and try not to watch any replays for the sake of your sanity :p and enjoy the ride next year.

Good luck next season. It was a pleasure to fight it out with your mob today and to know that we played the best.
 
Instead of giving commiserations or saying how unfortunate it was that you didn't take the whole thing home - I'm going to say well done on getting there and if you keep that sort of form up with a few players getting some more size and experience in them, you'll be one to challenge for a few years to come.

I used to only like Freo for two reasons - One being the connection we have through Taz and Medhurst and a few others & the other reason being that I think Stephen Hill is an absolute gun and I've been following him since he was recruited.

Ross Lyon has got a fire brewing in your team now, and I look forward to seeing you lot challenge again next year. Well done on a great performance. :thumbsu:
 
Drink yourselves into a stupor (at the safety of your own home) and focus on the positives, which there are many this year. I walked home from the MCG after our 1998 loss to the Crows where we kicked ourselves out of that game in the first half, nothing worse that losing to a team you know you should beat. We won in 1999 so every cloud has a silver lining.

Freo should have won, Hawks have too many soft show ponies, but it didn't happen. I think you have a lot to look forward to for 2014 and the years ahead.

P.S. stop trying to pinch our forwards. :p

Yes, it will hurt. I know, Hawthorn was there just 12 months ago. You should be very proud of the your boys. Freo will be hard to beat next year. You should also be proud of the gracious Freo fans who have ventured over to our board. Well done and a safe trip home for those supporters who travelled to the game.
 
Commiserations to Fremantle fans, but wow have you earned some fans today.

Immense passion and noise, but unlike some (shall remain nameless) clubs who focus on the negative/umpiring, the focus on cheering and support for your team was incredible. It's not often you can meet in a GF, when everything is on the line, and go away with increased respect and admiration for the opposition.

I know what it's like to be where you are today, but use it for next year, to drive you onwards and to take one more step. (Unless we make it too of course).

GF's are rare, and should be remembered for the achievement throughout the season, not the failure at the last hurdle.
 
Very nice thoughts from Hawks supporters and thanks for making the effort to come on our board to voice them at a time you should be celebrating.
Hawthorn have been the best team all year and thoroughly deserve their victory.
As mentioned by a few here we certainly did not win the cup but gained something that is equally hard to get and that is respect:thumbsu:
 
Pav's right - you'll be back. Doesn't make that horrible, empty, sick feeling any easier to endure in the meantime though. Thanks to your gracious supporters posting congrats on our board- as others have commented, respect for your club continues to grow.
 
I've been sold on Freo since the NM Freo game at Etihad late 2012. About a week later, you dominated my team.
This year, no surprises at all, you made the GF.
Next year....
Hard to think about next year when today is so close and painful, but to experience what you have today is, as Hodgey said, character building, and there is no way Freo will not be right up there again
Full respect for your team, and I know too well how good those players are, having watched 2 losing finals against Freo.
Congratulations on today's effort, but more so on this season's effort considering how much footy your stars have missed.
 
Great game. It hurts to lose one, but often you have to before grabbing the cup. Wasn't your day today, but I'm sure it will be in the not too decent future.

Congratulations on the season and, gotta say, your club has shown plenty of class along the way.

Must say how impressed I was with the Fremantle supporters @ the G today.

The chant of "FRREEEOOOOO" would start and everyone of your supporters would join in, just loud, sooo loud.

Great atmosphere and respect to the Freo supporters as they all seemed to stay behind for the presentations which is always tough.

Remember. The Hawks defeated the WCE in their first ever Grand Final and a year later they won. Chin up, cant be far away.
 
I seriously hope you guys do win the cup soon, probs my second fave team to win after the Hawks just because i love Fyfe and Walters, however the real reason i wanna see you guys win one is because of Pav, guy is such a class act and a great leader and hope he retires as a premiership captain.

Freos performance both on the field and in the crowd was impressive, all the best in 2014 against all clubs but mine.
