North Melbourne
One of the best things we as members have experienced in the Brayshaw/Arocca era has been the level of communication between the admin and the members.

The story in today's Age suggesting the club is looking at selling games to Hobart is highly disturbing because
(a) it is at odds with a reassurance that Eugene gave a poster here (SLF) just yesterday that the club had NOT been involved in any such discussions
(b) it is at odds with the whole policy the club has been pushing for the last 2 years, of trying to reconnect with Victorian members, and make a long-term commitment to surviving as a Melbourne-based club.

If the story in The Age is BS, I hope the club will refute it 100% without delay.

If there is any truth to it, I look forward to a frank communication to the members.

All good bro.
Keep the faith and trust our leaders.:thumbsu:

The AFL is interested in a proposal to present to all clubs about playing in Tassie. That means Essendon as much as it means NMFC.:thumbsu:

I'll start to have less respect for our admin the day they become the puppets of the mainstream media and the "Chicken Little" element on this board.

NMFC policy is NOT dictated by The Age newspaper.

What is our policy?

What's the club's position on selling games? Does anyone who hasn't emailed Eugene know what it is?

Do you seriously believe a club in our current position has a fixed policy?

Obviously, they are open to it.

Why is this news to you, have you forgotten the WA proposal from earlier in the year?

See above.
The club has always said - and Brayshaw said it at Dallas Brooks - that it'd consider selling perhaps a game. And we said we were happy to play out our deal on the Gold Coast.

The WA proposal was different - one game, an existing market, the Eagles handing us the payment. Tasmania could be more than one game, new market, money would be courtesy of the AFL. The difference is small I guess, but it's the same slippery slope we tilted down before. With games already in Tassie, I can't see why the AFL would cough up money if it didn't have a motive.

And the stories in the paper are backgrounded via the AFL.

I apologise if you see my sniffing of the air on this as seeing the sky as falling, but I can't be arsed with the bullshit that comes along with all of this again. My concern is not that we could relocate, it's that the bullshit debate that comes with it affects our momentum as a club, and membership and match day attendance.

We don't need to get into a shun the disbelievers type this on this, the club just needs to do the leading on these issues. That's all I want.

I have no doubt they have a latent motive and not just in relation to North. However, North have already been quoted as stating that a relocation is completely off the cards, and I am sure they would factor that in to any contractual obligations.

Let's look at the facts.

1) The Tasmanian government is on record as stating it will not put up the money.

2) North have been quoted as stating that they may be interested as long as any possibility of a relocation was completely discounted. This is 100% consistent the Brayshaw/Arrocca position since day one.

3) The AFL have not been quoted as stating they would pay for clubs to play matches in Hobart.

So, with that in mind, where is the issue?

This is just another load of bollocks to keep a grossly overpopulated AFL media in a job.

We don't need to get into a shun the disbelievers type this on this, the club just needs to do the leading on these issues. That's all I want.

Fair enough and that is exactly what I believe they will do.

We haven't come this far to roll over and die. Have faith in the men that delivered us from the precipice in the first place.

Perception is everything.

Disillusioned supporters still exist and not all those have jumped back on board yet. Any hint of us selling games/playing elsewhere isn't going to encourage some of those people to get back on board and by ****ing christ we need absolutely everyone to ensure our very survival.

Articles like this need to be either killed outright or set straight.

Immediately.

So, with that in mind, where is the issue?
The potential for such mischievous disinformation (if it is in fact wrong, which I sincerely hope is the case) to destablise NMFC, to reinforce the idea in the minds of the media, the general public and those 'fans' who haven't bought a membership (this third group being the most important in some ways), that North is NOT here to stay.

To me, that IS an issue.

Wanting the club to either nip the speculation in the bud, or to explain the FACTS to the members is not kowtowing to the media ; it's wanting the club to keep faith with the members.

Spot On Groggy.:thumbsu:

Now I wonder if those who are running our club understand this.

Disillsiioned supporters are the only reason North would sell off home games. How long and how much convincing do the disillusined people need to get on board. Quite frankly i'm sick of buying memeberships every year for the whole family and having to read and listen to to crap that is served up about our club.
So everyone on hear should cut the admin some slack and know that whatever decision they make is so that we can continue to bitch about North Melbourne in the future.

For what its worth i saw Vlad walking into our offices this morning, maybe everything will be settled by this afternoon.

I agree with that, just hope that whole notion of having some games in a place other than Victoria is nothing more than a beat up.

Yeah well that doesn't explain the Out of Office AutoReply: I got from Euge this morning after sending him my 50th email voicing my complete and utter outrage at the mere thought that our club was considering playing home games on the MAP. :stern enraged look

If you think me or any other poster voicing a reasonable concern on here is "bitching" about the admin, you're a million miles off the mark. There wouldn't be a poster on here who wouldn't stand and applaud the work JB & Euge have done.

I hate reading crap about our club in the paper and hearing pure speculation from a less than sympathetic media as well. We all are. The fact is the club is trying to change that.

The fact also is that these reports don't help our cause and still need to be quashed if they are wrong.

Like I said, perception.

Well, we were after a game in WA. I don't know why people would accept that and be furious if we played a game in Tassie on the assumption it was not a prelude to relocation.

He did spend the night sleeping on the floor of Etihad Stadium last night in support of the homeless. Just saw him on the news, and he did look a touch tired.

Time will tell.

Unfortunately there are idiots out there who jump to conclusions with the notion of North Melbourne playing some games in Tassie as it could see a possible relocation.

I think this is correct. People can say what they want regarding Brayshaw but he has delivered on most things. Eugene continues to be our best asset. This crap must drive them both to distraction but they can't be leaping to our defense at every snipe that comes our way.

Much as I am offended like everyone else I think we should develop thicker skin. That having been said P Smith and G Denham should be persona non grata at our club and that should come from the top.
