Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests and NaturalDisaster

I, Barrybran, am hereby nominating myself for the position of Sweet FA Administrator for season 34 and beyond.

My platform for Sweet FA will include easy entry and exit, appropriate signage and line markings, seating, and plenty of room to accommodate waiting passengers. I believe Sweet FA is currently drunk and should start attending AA meetings. My experience is extensive and my vision is 20/20. I support players’ rights to have e-spouses.

Look, you all know who I am and what I bring to the table. Some of you like me. Some of you don’t. I don’t particularly want the responsibility of being the administrator and I feel PMBangers would do a fine job however I’m aware I am probably best placed to take this board through the next couple of seasons and I believe people deserve a choice where a choice is offered. If I am chosen you know I will do an excellent job. If I don’t, you all get to laugh at me.

I have no grand vision for where to take this board. There are many great ideas and my role as administrator will be to pull these ideas together into a cohesive plan. One such example will be to assist Kennedy Parker to refine QootyPy with a view to replacing Mobbs ’ version sometime within the next three seasons.

My goal really would be to keep the board running. The administrators across 32 seasons have done a fantastic job to build Sweet FA into what it is today. As much as people complain about this place at times, an average of 196 people turned up to match threads each week last season (courtesy of serial_thrilla), which represents and average of 16 per team per week. When you consider there are seven primary positions and maybe six secondary positions, we’re doing alright. There’s not much I need to do. All I have to do is keep the wheels turning.

Where I would likely differ to NaturalDisaster and Ant Bear, as the previous administrators, is to be more autonomous. I won't be running every decision by the committee. Their role is to keep the administrator accountable but the administrator's role is to lead, organise and execute. I’ve been around long enough to know how everything works, what needs to be done and how to do it. Please don’t confuse autonomous for autocratic. My goal will be to collect and collate ideas from the membership of this board and implement those I feel will add the most value to the board. My methods will work for some. It won’t work for others. For those it doesn’t work for, there’s always rule 10A.

I have enjoyed the seven seasons I’ve been here so far and I am sure I will enjoy the next few seasons whether I am administrator or not.

Thanks Baz.

What's an example of something that's currently run by committee that would no longer be run by committee?
I don't really have a specific example at this point mate. A lot of little things get run by the committee that probably don't need to be. For some things, like All-SFA selection, having input from all 12 clubs works really well. For others, like rule changes, it would be more effective and efficient to gather ideas through the season, discuss with a couple of former admins and just execute without trying to get 12, and potentially 13 or 14, opinions in the space of 1-2 weeks when everyone has tuned out.

Would you consider removing committee entirely, then, and just replacing with a couple of sub-committees?

What would you like to see sub-committees used for?

I'm indifferent on the matter, but I thought if you weren't going to lean on committee so much, an equivalent of the HoF sub-board could be used specifically for things like All-Sweet FA selection and the like.

Your thoughts?

That old chestnut....

The All-SFA selection process works. It's the nomination process that is flawed and may benefit from a sub-committee. It's worthy of discussion.

Edit: go to bed Baz

How good would it be to become admin and have DenieD apply to me to change the Gumbies to this. The response is pretty obvious though...

currently I would only have to go to NaturalDisaster if I wanted to rebrand for next season no?

I could do it right under your pretty little nose.
