I hope we get Taylor Adams, he looked good against collingwood, would love him down here at tigerland, and if that's at the expense of conca I couldn't really care less, I just don't think he'll ever become a gun, just an average player, could prove me wrong though, but Adams on the other hand looks the goods.
Hope we can swing a trade to get him, with conca going to wc and gws getting picks, and us getting Adams. Thoughts?

thoughts? keep conca, solid 150-200 game player. unfortunately needs a good run without a foot injury to curtail his season.

our first rounder should be enough for adams. they got him with pick 13. we'll have around 11. we should also be playing helbig or arnot on ball more often.

Three years of Conca development is worth a Luke Shuey, not a Taylor Adams.
Would like to keep Conca, and get Adams via other means.
We need to go much deeper in our midfield, not cull it.
And how many times have you seen Conca first in with a hug..?
He's our love barometer. :)

Okay best possible scenario is we keep both, but what if we can't? Due to salary cap pressure, cause I sure do wanna sign Martin!

if we cant keep conca it wont be due to salary;)

honestly his foot has set him back quite a bit i dont think we'd get quite what we wanted if he was to be traded.

Your are right I probably wouldn't want to trade Conca knowing the potential I have seen throughout various parts of his career. If he does want to go to West Coast we do need to make it as favorable as possible.

What is wrong with his foot??

After looking at Tigers the lost years to me the Adams option smacks of ego and short term fix all over again.

Unless you know Adams is what we want and know he will be a star the draft is a better option. To me the Adams option is a moo, like picking Conca in front of Heppell!

Put simply Conca has shown poise and decision making clearly ahead of Adams. Even allowing for age I rate Conca at least one clear level above Adams. That may change of course but I do not see it. In fact I would be surprised if Conca does not perform at least 2 levels above Adams throughout their careers!!

So you want another player like deledio when tagged does
Shit all? Oh and without the elite speed and marking ability?

A Deledio and Gaff ensures that one of them won't be tagged. Two players that have the capability to be freakish.

While the weagles didn't win today, Gaff kept them in the contest with 31 quality possessions on top of a tag. He is only 21 and will eventually completely shake off a tag consistently; like today.

Despite our bias as Richmond supporters, there is absolutely no doubt that Gaff is an upcoming superstar; and unfortunately, at this point in time, better than Conca. He was pick 4 for a reason despite being a Victorian.

I rate Conca above Gaff as a prospect atm

West Coast player for Conca maybe even that ruckman Lycett plus a 2nd round pick.

Deledio to GWS for Adams + Tyson.

2 midfielders, 1 ruckman and a second round pick for 2 players could work.

Deledio could win a Brownlow somewhere else. And still could at Richmond, if it all clicks for him over the next 7-8 years.
He is as durable as Gary Ablett, and could play for as long as we expect Gaz to.
Our second-tier midfielders are getting better, and this will help Lids' game.
If he plays a big Final, which I think he will, he should silence the doubters.
If he's not a heart and soul player, he's certainly black and yellow.

He is worth more than Adams and Tyson anyway IMO

i wasn't even talking about adams...

adams to me is basically a more skillful modern version of tuck, with better skills. thus far his shown good skills. I wouldn't say no to him I also dont know who will be around our pick come draft time... having said that, arnot is the same type of player.

whats the bolded got to do with the topic? how can a kid (adams) be a short term fix? he's got years ahead of him.. adams is what we need, another clearance hard ball winning mid.

He is a short term fix compared to draftees. Eg. helps the team in 1-2 years instead of 3+ years and further out. Swans showed us today we are 3 years plus away from contention IMO.

See Walls referred to people guarding their interests. So to guard tenure go short term, If looking after club Swans tell us go mid/long term today from the performance

The bold was a reply to the thread not yourself.

The reply to you was in regard to your reference to a foot, Does/did Conca have a foot issue??

BTW for me Adams at 179cm is a total different player to 190cm+Tuck

while adams is shorter he is still an inside mid. dont agree that he'd be a short term fix he's young enough to be at the team for 10 years. he'd address an area we are sometime deficient in (winning the hard ball).
ideally we need more 190cm mids.

yes imo conca has foot issues. go look up his injury history, always a foot that stops him getting a run at it. was very very good early in the year and since comming back from a foot issue (stress reaction) has been massively down on his early form. hopefulyl just working back into it

I think the Adams option suits the coaching/organisational regime though because they can get more kudos from Adams in 2014/2015 as Adams has miles under his belt already. It also takes the pressure off recruiting staff as Heppell is improving again this year.

My main issue with Adams is I am not sure he has enough game for what guys on BF seem to be prepared to offer up. eg first round etc.. First round to me includes a component where the player may be better than expected. This for me has reduced with Adams as people know more about him and to me he seems reasonably run of the mill. Frankly I cannot see how the club cannot get a Adams type for anything more than a 2nd round pick. Clearly to me Adam is not near J Selwood standard and therefore not commanding of 1st round pick. My attitude for small mids is like ruckman, unless exceptional , not worthy of first round
