Congratulations to Catman (if he is on here) and his efforts to transform the Cheer Squad into something much more visually appealing. Unfortunately his efforts haven't been appreciated by all. Those morbid (I just sit in the Cheer Squad for a cheap seat) oldies are furious because it blocks their view of the ground for thirty seconds. Unfortunately they will probably hang around for another season if they start building the new stands next year. Hopefully after that they can get rid of all the dead wood and turn it into a real "Cheer" squad, and not just a cheap seat area.

(waits for Jub Jub to have a go at me for bagging the Cheer Squad)

The catman on here is not the same one as that freak in the cheer squad

Erm... at the Sydney game, a mother and (adult) son were sitting next to me and we starting chatting as the game went on.
Mum: What's up with our cheer squad? They're not making much noise.
Son: Maybe they need to go to cheer school?
Me: Don't get too ambitious. I think school-school might be a good start.
Mum: *cuffs me over the head* THEY ARE PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY!
*son laughs*

(ps - agree with OP, well done)

I'm more disturbed by what looks like a penis drawn over Josh Walkers head
OP trying to say something about Walker ?
Thank goodness you didn't come up with a pic for that one. Phew!

Catman actually upset a few of the powers that be in the Cheer Squad.
To allow the big flags back, he was supposed to have begged to them and then they would then beg to the Geeloong Football Club who would then beg to the AFL.
Instead Catman put on a suit and tie and went straight to the top.
Every Cheer Squad in the AFL has benefited. They can all wave real flags instead goal umpire sized ones.
For those that don't know, Catman is the son of 1963 premiership full back Roy West.

Why do you wish to kick fellow Geelong supporters out of their own seats? There is a variety of reasons they may want those seats like a) they are cheaper - being old doesn't mean life is easy b) attachment to the seats and the outer or c)its where they like to sit!

Why are you classifying supporters who may have supported the club for 40-60 years (depending how 'old' these people are you speak of) as 'deadwood?' They have had the opportunity, luck or whatever you want to call it to watch many more great players grace that ground than you or I. Yet you deem them 'dead wood' because some want to flap about with large flags? An explanation would be great :thumbsu:

I had an old guy (75+) sitting next to me who kept commenting on Dangerfield and Motlops bright shoes. "What are they thinking?" he asked me. "Proper footballers like Peter Riccardi always wore black shoes when I was growing up" I replied. He nodded in agreement. It was the highlight of my day.

Sure, the cheersquad does look prettier in those two quite convenient side-by-side photos you have posted, but I fail to see why you need to have a dig at the old guys? If I had to pay money for a seat, I also wouldn't want my view disrupted constantly.

The hours must fly by when the two of you get talking. Have you passed your collective wisdom to the club on the correlation between shoe colour and aptness for playing football?

No, they have probably already looked at it. Why? Do you think I should?
