If the Irish were worried about us being too rough last time then sending Max over will surely force the Irish to cancel this competition once he's left a trail of destruction

This could once again be the end of the series if Max gets his paws on one of their little skinny runners and buries him into the turf so hard his head pokes out the top of Croke Park.

I thought they were trying to REDUCE the amount of violence? :D

That's a serious burial, since the series is being played in Australia. :D

You all seem to think this series is about beating and bullying some Irishmen. well its not. I was ashamed of being an Australian when our blokes were more interested in ripping heads off (ie C Johnson). I think the irish were right to cancel the series for a few years and stupid for giving us another go.

It wasn't one way though.

I was disgusted by the violence, but no one in this thread has done anything other than have a jest about the hairy concrete wall that is Max.

Ireland started most of it. The Aussies just finished it! :D

I for one enjoyed the biffo. IMO, the International Rules series is so biased towards the Irish it's not funny. Round ball, goalkeepers, and most of the rules and skills required are from Gaelic football. Only Australian Rules based inclusions are the point posts and the ability to tackle and bounce the ball. Only way to even it up is to have the rules they have now, but use an oval ball instead.

I'd love to see it played on an oval. Even up the goal kicking advantage, since the rectangle suits their bloke who can curl it.

I thought the biffo got ridiculous last time, I'm happy to see hard play but Chris Scott was just a thug and disgraceful as captain. One of the best things about Rooke is his fairness, goes in hard but never dirty.

The biff is the only thing that makes the series interesting.

Love it. Chris Johnson hit was one of the best ever. Getting one. Gets up takes another. THen trys another 2 more. Brilliant.

Dashers wasn't violent but still ****ing funny ( around the 40sec mark of the video)

I love watching the clip of the 2004 fight that they have a link to at the end of that one. Eddie got really excited about it! :D

Also marking the ball (it's play on in gaelic footy if you mark the ball)

They've brought in a new rule for this series limiting the number of handballs you can do before you have to kick it (think it's 4?)

International Rules is more like gaelic footy than aussie rules, but the tackle rule evens it up for the Aussies :thumbsu:

Anyway, I look forward to seeing Max Rooke do his thing in IR!
