Daniel "Sarah" Connors
vs
Andy "the restraining order says 200m, TigerTroy" Collins

just thinking that we most probably will see some kids getting a bit more game time at top level, especially those that aren't KPP
wondering on people's thoughts on these 2 and if the opportunity arose and it was down to one or the other to play a few games in the coming last rounds who and why

They would both deserve to play this week on form, but since Connors had a poor attitude I can't see him getting included just yet.

Collins this week, then Connors in 2-3 weeks :thumbsu:

Andy Collins will get picked well before Connors. Collins would be a great player to have in the team. I havent ever seen him play but i heard that he is a great player.

So My vote goes to Collins

Pettifer had/has a poor attitude and what 5-6 weeks ago we didnt think he was gonna be in the team and yet he was.....

I don't get it. Connors had 25 touches in his second game. Surely you would persist abit more with a young kid like him? Has good agility and can take a grab.

I would've thought that they would have given him abit more of a chance.

The kid has had a few problems off-field, hasnt been very disiplined.

And if you watch hes games closely you would notice he is very unfit.

Both problems can be fixed. Fitness is just over time and working over summer and on the track.

With his disipline, he just needs a few words with the staff and if he keeps it going it's his own fault. He has a future, if he can keep his off field problems under control.

to do with his attitude..i believe he thinks his talent is wasted at VFL level..give him a run at the top...if his attitude is the same then we know dont we!!!
no good saying ywe can fix his attitude at VFL level if we want him as an AFL footballer

Regarding Conners, this is my two cents.

From what I have heard, Mitch Morton had a pretty poor attitude at West Coast despite being a great talent. Although he was probably threatened to be delisted/or traded times before he actually was, he never really understood the kick up the arse until he was offloaded to Richmond. Now he sees that he has probably been a bit lazy and selfish but is finally getting his arse into gear knowing that if he doesn't perform, he could be shown the door.

What has all this got to do with Daniel Conners? IMO Daniel Conners seems very similar to Mitch Morton when he was at West Coast. A great talent, but clearly somewhat lazy and unfit. Bassically what I'm saying is that I wouldn't be suprised if Daniel Conner's is moved on at the end of 2009 or 2010 and then becomes a star at another football club once he finally gets a kick in the arse and understands that he's on his last chance.

Although I hope this doesn't happen, they seems to be uncanny parrallels between the two.

Anyone agree?

They should select players on form and team balance always. With exception to old washed up crap players like Tivendale , Petifer and Hyde. These three should be made to dwell in Coburg 2's for the rest of the year and then cut loose. Petifer would be very lucky to stay.

Give Collins a run if people are worried about Connors poor attitude. Connors has that x factor but Andys worked hard and has a tremendos upside as a skillful team player. I'd like both of them to be 200 game players for Richmond.

I reckon that Connors is the better player. He is brilliant, good around goals and can take a specky. The only problem is his fitness and attitude. If he can fix them he will be a very good player with Richmond.

Standing behind TW at Boxhill on Sunday, some supporter asked him when connors would play seniors, his response was sooner than you think , sounded like TW spin to me but good to see he may be being thought about.
I think he will include Alex Rance this week even as emergencey as the games in WA and it gives him a chance to see family and friends which is something TW likes to do for the young kids.

I voted for Andy Collins.
Though I believe if we get Connors right he will be a far more potent player for us in the future, Andy is more ready to go now.

I am seriously worried about the health of Tiger Troy if Andy does not get a run soon.

I don't know TT but just yesterday I saw a sad depressed looking fella, with a duffle coat covered in And Collins badges and the number 42 on the back wandering down towards Federation Square. I think it was Tiger Troy...

He was carrying a noose...

Foley, Lids, Browny, Cotchin, Polo, Connors, Tambling, and a fit Coggs...next year will be the year. Dont know anything about Collins, havent seen him, but have read alot about him here. Unfortunately the majority of the posters that have been talking him up, IMO have NFI. So prefer to see him before giving any opinion. ;)

its funny

Connors has more talent
Connors is a better mark
Connors is a better kick
Connors kicks more goals
Connors can play more roles

But id take Collins

Connors dosent work hard enough
Connors isnt fit enough (had time to get there)
Connors is Only contributing in patches
Connors Dosent look real interested in playing footy atm

Collins busts his ass
Looks a natural footballer
Deserves his shot

... and i really wanna see tigertroys posts the day it happens

Well, in thta case you'd have to take Collins.

Summer is five months away.

If you ain't fit now, you ain't going to be til season's end. Training isn't structured during the regular season around building a fitness base.

Personally, I think we'll see Collins play his first game this week.....one hopes Tiger Troy can contain himself long enough til Sunday to see it.

No Roachy that wasn't me but you'd be forgiven for thinking it was. Its glad to know Andy's got more than one fan though. I really do believe Andy will become the next spiritual leader of our club when Richo retires as he will have plenty of fans once he actually gets a game.

It's his work ethic and terriffic attitude that gets me excited. Sometimes certain players just have to work harder than others to become AFL footballers and Andy has certainly done that. It's been a long wait thats for sure.
