Shame Boxshall only just re-signed. Feel like a deal for him and Ryan with some pick swaps would work well for both parties.

Ryan + Hawks 1st for Boxshall and change sort of thing
Jesus Ryan and pick 13 for Boxshall? He’s been good but my word!

STK:
Ryan for Boxshall OR Barrat
Ryan and Hawks 2R for Wilson
Ryan for Dodson and F2
Ryan and our 2R for Travaglia

ESS:
Ryan and pick 1 for pick 5 and 6
Ryan and pick 32 for pick 25 and 26
Ryan for Zach Reid
Has to be a player. Hi Steven, here are four names. Pick one or no deal. Boxhall Wilson Dodson Barrat

I know it is completely ridiculous and would never happen but I would love to imagine the uproar from both Eagles fans and Vics if a 3 way trade ended with us moving all of our current picks (1,2,14,21,34) to bombers and tigers for 3 through 6.

Something coming back too obviously

Had it in my head that he was a top 10 pick for some reason. Maybe a straight swap is more realistic than thought.

I doubt it would happen given he’s just re-signed anyway. Maybe what I proposed is more realistic if we wanted a Travaglia type operator. (Halfback with mid potential, hnnnnnnnnng)

It appears draft experts inside and outside this board, have all agreed its a shallow draft.
Moving Ryan on for a pick in the late 1st round makes no sense.

If Morris's comments are right, 3 years with a 4th on offer makes sense for Ryan to ask to leave.

So to me, WC douse the fire by upping their offer to move towards the Saints offer (its not as though they dont have the spare coin) OR they name a Saints player they want & swap them.

If it's the former, then I would be setting conditions, and if it's the latter, then I'd ask for Windhager.

You may be thinking of Tauru or Travaglia. Who knows but **** I hope we play hardball if they are prepared to offer him that contract.

Need to think laterally RE the Ryan trade - need to see how this could assist in getting a McVee type through the door

Agreed, we don’t need more 2R 18yo s. Dodson would need more, we’d need to add something for Wilson.
It's fascinating how the saints won't cough up for windhager. I hope we've at least offered a 6yr deal at 900 (aka the Oscar contract) to try and lure him.

Eh, I really don’t think it changes much. Look at north. They have a top 5 ruck. They’re shit

Xerri, Gawn, Grundy, Marshall, TDK, Nank and one of Witts/English will all end up being in teams that don't make finals

Meanwhile the top 3 teams have Riley O'Brien, Rhys Stanley and Darcy Fort

Will be sad if he does go, but we shall see. Really hope the club has a clear plan as to what price we would accept for him and doesn’t waiver. Unfortunately we will be in for a rough ride dealing with that campaigner Silvagni.

I can see Ryan's career falling off a cliff really quickly. 2 years max before his already inconsistent effort and output starts to diminish.

Us giving him 3 years would show we've learnt nothing from the last 5.

I'd rate another year of Liam Ryan being worth more for our shitty club than a second round pick in this year's draft. But I can't see another club rating him more highly than that.

Feel like this is another Darling situation where we'll let him go for unders out of respect for what he's given to the club.
Darling wasnt best 22 for us going forward as a 32 year old, Ryan quite clearly is best 22 for us with years left of decent footy.

Very different scenario

Moving quickly

Good to see, seems club means business. Will miss Flyin but its a good move for both parties
As much as we would like to keep players like OA and Ryan, we are being aggressive and cashing in to help with our list build in the best possible way.
As long as we extract the right player price for Ryan I am happy to use that on a n upgrade in picks into top 10 and or a high quality player who is in the 23-27yo range.
This seems a repeat of last year where we were aggressive in targeting players through trade, recently missed Warner and Cameron, love it.
Don't stand still, this seems like a repeat of last years trade period where we chased several and upgraded our list.
This just looks like we have had a thought out strategy and keep firing shots until we get a desired result.

Would be shocking list management to raise our offer near the saints for a guy who I don’t think would even see out his saints years. He is as close to cooked as a player can be. No speed, no defensive pressure, can’t tackle, can’t kick accurately , can’t handle pre season . No thanks

Guys come in peace.

I get it when you lose or potentially lose a player it’s shit.

But be realistic - we won’t be handing over any half decent young player aside from potentially collard.

It’s likely a draft asset or at best Steele - if you can convince him to come with $$$
