Bo was a premiership player at 18 yrs for Peel. Can’t be a slouch that’s for sure.
Hope he joins Baker, Graham,Ginbey and HD in lots of early preseason work.
Our core youth need to band together and go hard.
The vibe seems good considering our shit season so another preseason will embed Macarthy, Baker,Bo etc

Not a priority player for his positions but would you take another Hough? Yes. Best 23 and experienced

Could free Hough up to play the attacking hbf, which could free up McCarthy to play mid, or Baker could go to hff which is a pretty critical position in modern footy.
Good in theory but Hough takes too long in his wind-up to kick, isn't confident enough to bite off the quick risky kick into the corridor. Brisbane are the best at corridor footy. Keep moving the ball and players around until it opens up and then they go. But it's others like Zorko and Wilmot who take those kicks, not Starcevich.

Starcevich played on Ben Long who kicked 45 goals this season and was a major driver of the Suns success

Kept him to 0.1 from just 4 disposals.

Murdered him

We need as many quality experienced players as we can get and he likely comes cheap

No brainer if we can convince him to come across

Even as CDTs biggest hater, even I can acknowledge this is ignorant as all f. He hits the scoreboard, he’s just not a sharpshooter. 2 recent games one at VFL was 3.2 and he shot 2.5 both from set shots and at ground level in CTL recently.

He absolutely would’ve been a top 10 player last year. Even I’m not that dumb as to say that
I'm glad you're so convinced.
We could do with a modern day Tyrone Vickery to partner Williams.

I don't know... I'd be pretty disappointed if I'd killed my opponent and he still managed a kick.

Okay.

I think you have an abhorrently giant shit take on more than 90% of your views, on players and talent identification in particular.

I like to read posts before I look at who the poster is, and yours sound like they come from an all knowing position BUT, you sprout more shit than my arse, even when I had dysentery in Mirzapur

My 9yr old boy would be far better judge, with a much higher hit rate
Wrong, i'm just a pessimist who loves hyperbole who happens to watch a lot more footy than everyone else.

Plus I have put a lot of work into reading & understanding the metrics that are used. Aka the data to back up the "trust me bro" confirmation bias which everyone seems to form the same opinion basis on.

This is what I have doubts about.

Already Ryan Daniels has mentioned pick 19 ffs. That's absurd.

If Lions have a 4 year deal on the table for him there's zero chance they let him walk cheaply. If we pay out the ass for a solid/limited albeit experienced player, that's going around in circles IMO.

Just did that with Baker, Graham and Owies.

Putting aside the statement that you watch a lot more footy than EVERYONE else…

Let’s say that’s true. It still doesn’t insulate you from having a shit take. All you’ve really done is watch more games through the same warped lens.

More minutes spent staring through a cracked prism doesn’t make the picture any clearer, it just means you’re more confident about being wrong.

I just generally don't like/agree with your takes....And that's fine. (I still think Boyd Woodcock would be better than 1/3 of our list. That's probably one of my many shit takes and I'll own it)

The thing to remember with getting Starc, is he frees up Baker to play exclusively in the front half(meaning we have less/no need for Owies to play as an experienced player after losing Ryan + potentially Cripps) and hes an extra body keeping Cole out of the side.

Pretty valuable, makes our D50 pretty strong in 2026.

Hard to justify giving up pick 19 for him though, if there was no FA compo stuff going on here id pay 19 for him.

After watching tonights game, i don't think we need Starcevich. Had no impact off half back at all. Didn't actually notice him at all.
Completely blanketed Ben Long apart from one contest which he lost.

Ben Long isn’t a superstar, but he has had a very good year.

If you’re expecting offensive brilliance from Starcevich, you’ll be disappointed.

I agree, I think we’ll end up trading the priority end of first (that we have to trade for a player) for him, can’t really complain about that considering there isn’t another player better wanting to come here + it doesn’t take away from our actual draft hand anyway.

Yeah nah the pressure from the Brisbane midfield forcing GC to kick long down the lines was the reason Long and Humphrey did nothing. It's the easiest kick to defend against because everyone knows where the balls going. I didn't see Starcevich dominate any 1 v 1 contests, or get on the end of the footy and transition from D50. He's a solid contributor but not worth anything more than a late second rounder.

It’s just a bit ridiculous though. The most looked after team in afl — the lions — essentially are given something they wouldn’t be entitled to otherwise, given that with Allen and Draper they are no chance of any sort of compo. A 3rd rnd pick or F3 is more then they would get under FA, so why are they getting 19?

truly this is the stupidest thing. And the scary thing to me, is I can see it happening. Ugh only in the afl.

Sullivan Robey has that real Bont feel to it. (Bont was a real late riser from memory too)

Late riser. Seems to have an elite mindset from what I can find.
Huge late growth physically. Seems to have a very high ceiling.

I love players that have clean hands and ability to find space. Has good burst too.

Think I have a new favourite.
IIRC Bont was very much on the radar all season. Was around the 10 - low teens mark mid-season but rose into top handful quite late.

He’s definitely a no brainer if we could actually get him for free as a free agent.

But it’s being reported that our request to sign a free agent without diluting our compo for Oscar is going to be denied. Which is genuinely hilarious because free agency was brought in to help shit sides sign good players but now the AFL don’t want to disadvantage the reigning premiers (and current prelim finalists) because it might help the wooden spooners too much.

Even if we get a free pick that has to be traded it is ****ing insane that the AFL is giving it to us so we can give it to Brisbane for Starcevich when they would get nothing if he went anywhere else. So Brisbane are getting a free pick because we suck?

Equalisation, ya’ll.

Hough was a different defender when he went back there late in the year. A pre season as that attacking hbf and who knows what it will look like. Baker can now be released as a half forward/midfielder

Ginbey - HEdwards - Starcevich
McCarthy - ? - Hough
Bench - Allan or Duggan or Lindsay or Farrow

Get the right KPD and that’s a finals team like defence.

They worry is all the reporting has been Starcevich wants to play midfield and that’s what we are selling him. He will probably at least do pre season there if he comes and see what that looks like.

Graham was free and Owies was steak knives.

Do you think he can make the transition to midfielder?
Thats the rumours about where he wants to play.
If thats true then we need to maybe stop looking at his backline work and start imagining his fit into our midfield
