Yeah, definitely not 1 or 2 but, reading around the boards, I think he's a chance at 5, maybe lower.
Would be nice, you’d have to have good draft intel though and even then the trade period for players closes a lot earlier then then picks. So things can change.

Really do need to find another McCarthy, modern day hbf.

Middle or wing? I see him playing CBA's next year but I reckon he'd go alright on the wing.
Id put him straight in the CBAs next year round 1.

We need to add 2 mids to our CBA mix imo: someone to do more of the contested/defensive work and someone with speed and elite kicking, to balance out Harley/Hewett

McCarthy more or less fills one of those roles to a pretty high standard imo

Blight is a better player than Brock. Edwards and Blight as the KPD with Ginbey as the 3rd tall would be the best option of that bunch.
Yeah I think thatd be a pretty solid trio.

Theyre all differently sized which is nice, Ginbey is a good matchup for those typically awkward smaller mobile KPFs

Why are Richmond keen to let his trigger go untriggered?

If he was any good, they'd want to keep him right? Especially given they're in a similar position to us really.
Well hes not best 22 for them, hes OOC, and they need list spots to draft more kids this year.

He fills a need, I dont think we are expecting him to necessarily be a long term fix, he just needs to compete with Brock/Bazzo.
If he comes free/super cheap and we arent drafting another KPD this year then it makes sense as a Gov replacement in terms of our depth.

Its Blight vs WAFL/VFL KPDs, I think id be happy with Blight

I’d love to see Ginbey on Logan Morris. Reckon he’d give him a bath now.

Their KPD depth is enviable except for night games.

Balta, Miller, Gibcus, Trainor, Young and Gray.

Richmond only have 2 live picks in this draft, which sit at 2 & 3 currently. They also have a FS they'll be picking up, so will probably bring a pick from next year into this year, unless nobody bids.

With Blight and McIntosh gone, they only need one more delisting to accommodate their draft hand and they'll have covered the minimum 3 changes.

Not exactly much of a turnover...

That’s because their rebuild is already completed.

No-one gets paid nothing in a second year after front ending.

Thats just weird.

How motivated would amyone be if they were turning up for work but were paid a year earlier and currently get nothing?
If you’re playing for your career a fair bit actually. As I said, there’s a lot of goodwill between Campbell and the club. We looked after him when he was injured, extended his contract and backed him in. If you’d met Campbell you’d know he’ll hold up his end.

They will have as many live picks as they have list spots to fill.

Maybe wait until final list lodgements before making any call on turnover.

They likely chase a RFA or UFA with free cap space they have.

A random player will move by a trade.

Still, paying him all in one year makes no sense to me whatsoever.

He wouldn't be on much so I can't see the point.

Why wouldn’t you give yourself as much cap flexibility moving forwards as possible? Whether that’s $100k or $1M, if we’re not paying the cap floor we lose absolutely nothing.

Makes no sense at all.

In fact, I've never heard of paying a player 100% of his contract in one year and nothing in the next.
We should have that much in the salary cap it's not funny.

There’s a minimum amount that would have to be paid in year 2 as per the CBA
but that’s all we should be paying in year 2.

Without knowing for sure, I’d pretty confidently say there’s a limit to how much you can front end a contract.

You’d have to, at the very least, pay the player the AFL minimum salary in the second year. Not nothing.

For similar reasons that we’ve been talking about splitting pick 2 (or 1), Richmond may consider doing the same with one of their two early picks

If we pass on CDT as we should, then I’m not sure he’s a need for Richmond either but another club might be interested in him and look to trade up. Richmond can then get an extra pick since after their two R1 picks they don’t have another until R5

Was he being lowballed though?

I mean, he was happy enough to take the big money on his current deal, even though he was barely on the park for half of it.

Can't be too upset when the club opts to protect itself from a disastrous contract.

It's probably a bit confronting to be the guy that the club finally decides to draw the line in the sand with and as the club captain too. Hell, they handed a contract to TK during this season and you can pretty much guarantee that is good folding stuff down the drain, irrespective of the value of the contract.

If Oscar gets paid and gets the contract length he's after and we get Band 1 it's very good business for all parties involved. If he goes to Brissie, I really hope Oscar can help them snag a flag or two.

Linked to Rosas apparently from the Suns, also linked to Sheldrick before he signed.

I reckon they likely bring in 1 or 2

They'll have to be trading future picks then, as I can't see them splitting one of those early ones for Rosas.

That'll start taking them out of next year's draft also.

Would likely be a token pick for Rosas? Not sure if he’s even played AFL or OOC.

Maybe if they get something for Blight? Flicked on to Suns? Depending what yeh Suns do with points, futures might suit ten.
