I’m starting to cop it from my freo mates, I did give them a bit of stick the last couple years about players leaving, suppose I probably deserve it😬
Hey mate i feel for you, just point out that since 2019 we've won the same amount of finals as them, you'll feel better

I think Brisbane know we blow pick 2 if we get him via free agency and are rightfully demanding a first rounder for him, hence our request for a first round priority pick.
Well if Brisbane are so clever they will also know that of Brisbane are unreasonable and he wants to go eagles that he can simply enter the psd if no offer is formally made and he does t commit to lions.

Brisbane don't hold any cards over the Eagles on this. They have as much to lose as we would if they went down that path.

We can simply match on Oscar and force Brisbane into a trade.

We can also bid on there kids in the draft and force them to pay up.
If we thought MC was bad...Thank Fk EP isn't in charge.

He’d waltz to the trade table like it’s the Blue Oyster Bar, drop the strides, plonk the chocolate donut on the table for pre demolition inspection!

Next minute, he’s shouting the other list manager a seafood tower at the Art of Seafood, raising a glass of chardonnay, and thanking them sincerely for the honour of being absolutely pummelled in the chocolate pocket.

Sorry ep2018 but you do seem to suffer from a tad of defeatism

Ryan for a F2 is pretty flaccid 🗑️

Second rounders are just shit these days, they're always directly impacted in that shit spot from all the FA compo and academy rubbish.

Would prefer we packaged Ryan, Chesser, and any other kent up in a deal to improve our Hawks selection or pick 20 THIS year.

That means more to the rebuild than banking a shit pick to use in 12 months time, for losing Liam Ryan.

Better yet, hold the prick to his contract and have another year of his services in 2026. It's not like it's remotely close between his contribution and the next best in Long/Owies.

If we force a trade though we are giving up pick 2. They aren't going to offer up anything better than that as they dont have great draft picks

The point is they aren't going to **** us over on Allen because we want Starc. It benefits neither team to **** around.

Lions would get nothing for him through free agency anyway. if they don’t want what we have to offer, then we should walk him to the psd.
We need to at least call their bluff and be prepared to use the threat of the psd.

Unless they change the f/s & academy bidding rules as is being suggested, 2nd round picks may be making a comeback.

Why so we get a lessor output again from him next year and waste a year when we could be down the path of replacing him. ? That’s what has us in this mess to start with, he is saving us from ourselves

The short answer is he's going to be clearly more valuable in our side than the floating shit F2 will be. There's nobody he's keeping out of the side.

A future pick doesn't help our rebuild, it's a whole year wasted. Ryan, even a checked out Ryan, with all his flaws is more useful to our developing side than that shit pick.

Cash him in in 12 months time, he can be OOC who even cares by that point.

I'm not keen on an F2 either for this reason. What we receive for Ryan should add more value to our list than another year of Ryan and the free agency compensation pick that comes with it at the end of next year.

It’s not just us either.

Essendon get him Lions get absolutely nothing.

Or Hawks 3rd from us that carries some points. (At a pinch maybe 31 for Starcevich + 40… upgrade some points for them but keep some to buy the GC/Carl pick/s).

The fact that we're trying to circumvent free agency rules to get Starcevich without trading with Brisbane makes me think they are demanding something significant for him. Dont think Hawks second or third gets it done.
Then we bid on their academy prospect with pick 2, just to really rub it in.

All this and with us linked to Starcevich and Ah Chee WC and BRI have mutually beneficial trades to complete.
Ah Chee is probably Ryan trade value and paying a pick for Starcevich would net them more than they will get from the FA system for 2 FA players OA and Draper.
Anything reasonable agreed for Starcevich would be a 3rd round pick or we could agree to offer the AFL compo end 1st round pick for both Ah Chee and Starcevich which would be say pick 19 or our 2nd round pick which will be around 23 after FA compo is added for OA, TDK, Draper, Silvagni.
