Could you imagine how messy a mid season trade period would be!?

With restrictions in place, I think it could work quite well.

Just make it that only players who have appeared in matches (not as the substitute) three or less times that season at the time of the trade period are eligible to be traded.

If a team has a positional crisis through injury they can pick up a player to cover it.

Fringe players get an opportunity for a shot elsewhere without having to wait until the next year.

Underachieving clubs are prevented from trading out their regulars as an indirect means of tanking.

WC should target Zac Bailey.

Very under-rated player who wins contested footy and is mainly used on a HFF.
What are we paying for him? He's worth pick 15-20 IMO. The timing is wrong. I'm also okay if Warner signs a 2 year deal at the Swans and then take him at free agency.

If Warner insists, we have to pay for him now. Other than that, we need to be hitting the top of the draft. We're basically looking for a player or two to make a Oliver/Tracc or JHF/Butters/Rozee combo with Harley. I'm still negged we gave up one chance last draft.

RFA in 2026.

Have no reason to suspect he would leave Qld though.

Originally from SA, so the two Adelaide clubs would have any go-home factor advantage.

Certainly worth asking a question about, despite the chances being very slim.

Lean close and whisper, "Jack Redden"

We should look at brayden crossley in MSD, strong, good clearance player, absolute campaigner of a bloke on the field. his strength and nastiness make up for his lack of height in ruck. Doesnt hurt having him around the young mids either

I’m not blaming our drafting from 2021-23 for where we are, but that’s the mechanism that will help us get out of where we are, and we aren’ hitting our targets often enough tbh .
Based on what? The players we didn’t pick and other clubs took around our selections? Are other clubs outperforming us from those drafts?

Are you aware that 55% of top 10 picks play 100 games of AFL footy and then it drops to below 30% after that?

We have had 5 first round selections since 2021. Reid and Ginbey look 100+ players. Allan looks the goods and is in line to play this weekend, Hewett has some question marks but if his foot holds together he plays 100 games and Chesser looks a probable bust. Possibly 80% strike rate of first round picks if things go well for Hewett from here.

We had pretty basic hands in the previous 4 drafts. We have had a few misses in there but like I keep saying there will be some hits.

You keep saying we aren’t hitting our targets. What are our targets meant to be? We don’t even know how good or bad the majority of these kids are going to be yet.

I thought he was from NT but schooled late years in Adelaide

In terms of mature ruckman Crossley would seem to be the best available and would certainly add some mongrel to the middle, especially with a directive to look after Harley.
Now you are discussing drafting a ruckman who would add some mongrel to the middle to look after Harley.🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was responding to a question, read much? Probably can’t.
So when I suggested we should look at drafting a ruckman you ridiculed the idea, ridiculed me and 24 hrs later you are suggesting we should draft a ruckman and even throwing names around.
Honestly you are complete waste of space, were you dropped on your head as a child?

No, I said you saying we draft an “AFL competent” 18 yo ruck was stupid. Wow, trivialising childhood head injuries now. Everything ok for you outside of BF? Doesn’t sound like it.

Trade discussion:
Assuming Warner gets to WC in 2025.
Who is the number 1 midfielder you would target in the 22-24yo bracket that would complement our next premiership midfield?
Has just broken out or is waiting behind the best midfields for an opportunity to breakout.
Someone who is OOC in the next 2 years that WC can throw a good deal at $$ and draft capital and be around for our next premiership run?

How can you so blatantly lie?
Here is my original post

After being so spoilt for brilliant ruckmen for so long, we are now at the other end of the spectrum.
Jarrod Witts completely destroyed Matt Flynn and gave his mids every opportunity, which they in turn took and turned it into a demolition of our team.
We need to draft a competent AFL ruckman ASAP.

Go to the draft. Take the best 18 year old punk available. Take a punt he turns into Butters/Merritt type.

To lure non-expat types like Callaghan, Rowell etc costs our top pick and $800k per year on 5 year contract, and they're unlikely going to want to come to us. Picking the next big thing is a risk.

Take Chaddles if he's coming
Hit the draft
When we start climbing the ladder, start targeting expats.

We should be looking at Eramus. Might not be any good, but he's Meg Griffin at the Dockers. Doing f-all. I wonder if they'd swap Johnson for Gov?
