Fair bit Eagles related here.

-Pies and Blues interested in Reeves and Cameron linked to Eagles in here.
Also stays Moyle is unwilling to leave. ‘Collingwood has offered Cameron a modest three-year deal, and would also be on the hunt for a new big man if they lost him to West Coast’
Clubs looking at what the afl do with the ruck rules and what sort of ruck is the right one.

-Questions how the Starcevich deal gets done if he wants to go the Eagles who have strong interest.

-McVee still weight up what to do and if a role somewhere else to be more aggressive defender higher up the ground is the option.

Pains me to say it but Ryan is a classic comfortable Simmo era player.

He has his moments and I have enjoyed his midfield bursts but is a 12 disposal, 3 inside 50, goal a game forward who isn't a high pressure player and has kicked 4 goals in a game 3 times in 121 games. At his peak he was 3rd in the comp for goals from smalls and outside the top 20 for inside 50s and goal assists. His AA season was good, but wasn't Mark LeCras/Phil Matera levels.

Everyone loves some flyin' Ryan but he's not really pivotal to our rebuild and there are plenty of small forwards around the league that do more. It's not like he's a consistent 30-40 goal kicker or an animal pressure player inside 50.
Ryan is liability defensively in the fwd half and in the midfield. The every time he was there against freo, they just ran away with it.

For Mini’s game style to work we need players that are willing to tackle and have the ability to apply real pressure (not just run behind).

Think we will look a lot better with more pace newton and Champion for the last four weeks. Cripps has been great for us but is another liability defensively. Should be the reason he doesn’t get another contract.

Caro was pushing this line on the Real Footy podcast, that it was disgusting that any player got paid $2 million.

Nobody pushes back and asks, so what should the Eagles do? Let him walk? Not spend all the money we have? Seriously?

Another hole dug by the AFL years ago.

Every year 18 salary caps are within 5% of each other. Having cap space and being at the bottom is not nearly as useful as you would hope.

Anyone who thinks any Starcevich deal would be difficult is a moron

He’s a free agent so Brisbane have no control over where he goes. Moreover, if he does leave they would get zero compensation because they’re bringing Allen and/or Draper in under free agency

So in this instance, West Coast would be a preferred destination for Brisbane because we’d be willing to trade in order to protect our own FA compensation for Allen. Something any other club not losing a FA would be concerned with

So anything we offer for Starcevich would be better than they’d otherwise get from another club

It wouldn’t be at all difficult

Why not both?

We need all the experienced bodies we can get

Because we're a rebuilding club and don't have an unlimited supply of draft picks to hand out in trades?

Cameron is worth a first, and we'll get 3-4 seasons out of him before he's gone.

Starcevich I don't even know, but if Lions are offering him a 5yr deal I doubt they'll let him walk cheaply.

Will potential ruck rule changes help out ol Baz Williams who can leap, but can't wrestle?
Doubt it - BWilliams struggles to tap the ball to OUR players. For someone who has been attending centre bounces for some time now his tap accuracy (according to my eyes) isn't great. Don't know if that's on him, midfielders or a lack of cohesion in the middle.

Well, considering Vozzo was calling up Gieschen like a scorned lover, we can only presume they've finally moved onto the "didn't like him anyway" stage.
If every team is going to do a public announcement that they're actually not interested in signing Harley or that the contract seems unreasonable, they need to be hit with the same "AGAINST THE TEAM THAT DIDN'T WANT HIM!!!" spiel that we get every time Nic Martin kicks a goal on us

There is an argument being pushed on Fox Sports that we would be better off with the 3 first rounders we would get for him if he left. That depends on where the first rounders were in the draft and also assumes we would get offered three firsts if we allowed things to go down that pathway. The reason i am OK with or willing to accept us overpaying to keep Reid is the fear that we would get low balled or rorted in a trade.

It'll be "AGAINST THE TEAM THAT WAS SMART ENOUGH TO NOT OVERPAY HIM!!!!"

We'd make it work if we can freely access our NGAs.

Those that think that ignore that we'll have two first rounders already this year and had a very solid draft last year.

I don't see the value is adding some extra first rounders at the cost of Reid who is leading our midfield at 20yo without any senior assistance.

We've also had senior players missing this year that makes things look worse than they actually are and will be a blessing as it's allowed us to get more senior minutes into players.

Let’s hope our guys are fully across the proposed ruck rule changes snd factor that into any trading strategy. Is Cameron a leaping ruck? Can’t say I’ve noticed him leaping much, hopefully he has that string to his bow.

By reports if he left those picks would be either tied to the Hawks or Cats.

Besides the Hawks pick that’s aligned with the Blues this year (and in a thin draft and depending if they go on a run from here) don’t think any of those picks have great value. One of them will also be in a Tassie draft so likely 30+.

Average haul imo.
