As it looks like Corey will be returning back to the Kangaroos, just wondering the army of Blues fans thinks about this. This may leave us a bit thin in the ruck, especially if Allan gets traded. As we cannnot particiapte in rounds 1 and 2 in the draft, what players do you think Carlton would be looking at.

Maybe someone like a Dylan Smith, top 10 pick a few years ago, who can play in the middle. Of the established players, maybe a David Teague or Digby Morrell or one of the Motlops..

Any thoughts??

Any young midfielder with reasonable skills and pace to burn will do. We have to look at the midfield problem first before we start concentrating on the back line (we need a tall, baulky defender down there IMO). Our forward structure is fine as it is... but we do need to get the ball first. The problems always start from its point of origin - the midfield.

I'd expect next year we'll be looking into more midfield options, and perhaps even boost our ruck stocks. But the main concern will probably be defence with McKay retiring... and a big body who can mark and spoil well (an 'enforcer' presence) will be required.

How bout

Troy Makepeace.... teague wouldnt come over, not after reading wot he had to say at the start of the year about Pagan.
Id take a few draft picks of them, long as we dont get caught up paying some of his salary, give him to them.

you'd hafta offer more than just mckernan to get makey, 4th in the b&f last year and established as our prime small defender. not sure if we'd do porter for mckernan either, as that would basically leave hale as our first ruck and he's probly not ready for that yet... (i don't see mckernan as a first ruck anymore)

that said you guys have got to get rid of mckernan while pagan's in charge, would shannon motlop interest anyone? got the talent but probly needs a change of scenery. in regards to dylan smith we're trying to use him in a trade for brent guerra at the moment apparently

uve got to be joking... more turnovers and skill errors... ohh noo

if you got makepeace is a straight swap for mckernan at this stage of his career you would be laughing. not gonna happen

All names you mentioned are possible traid bait for the Kangaroos bar one. Daniel Motlop is untradable and the Roos hierachy wouldn't even bring his name up. 13 Rounds into the season I would have happily traded him but his form in the second half of the season would probably have him in the Kangaroos best 6 players in terms of input for the last 10 games. He is a talent that wasn't given too much of a chance under Denis. But Shannon Motlop on the other hand.....

mckernan

id take a slab of crown for the sook.
but seriously... trade him for porter+3round pick.
just get him outta there!

you want a player AND a pick?? he's not worth a 3rd rounder alone at the moment, plus the fact carlton can't trade into the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft

the most confident rumour that i have heard is

Mark Porter for Corey McKernan...... re-do the trade

i mean mark porter has done nothing for the kangaroos anyway.... McKernan couldnt do any worse... if so i'd say he'd be a good get for us.... he can take ruck duties with david hale or Hamish McIntosh and can be a handy forward to as we have players like rawlings coming into the side, with also rocca and petrie... our forward line could prove to tall for most backlines

something to think about..... i mean if north had a good forward line last year we might of gone somewhere.......

we already have motlop,jones,petrie,morrell... if we include players such as rawlings and Mckernan into the equation... our setup starts to look a whole lot better

i don't think hale or mcintosh are ready for a first ruck role yet, i'd rather hang on to porter for the time being with spider gone. corey's no ruckman anymore

porter for corey will be a great trade, we all know that whenever porter steps onto the field he will give 100%
he is not as skillful as others in the comp, but all he needs to do is ruck and provide a presence/contest around the ground
corey needs another change

There was an interview with Corey on the news last night (9/10) & he said he does not know where he'll be playing next year. Just say you're leaving Corey. The gist of the story was that Laidley wants him back as number 1 ruckman. If that is the case, we'll take Porter back because he wont get a game at the Kangas.
