Just finished my 5-1:30 shift at work.
Had to walk off the shop floor twice because people clearly didn’t understand the meaning of social distancing. It was quiet right up until the lockdown announcement then you could just feel it was only a matter of time.

Doesn’t help we aren’t staffed for this so my store manager had to come in and help out the 1 junior that was rostered on.

and I get to do it all again tomorrow! Might have to go get a Valium prescription after today.
Went to Welland Plaza this am and every single person in a mask. Pretty impressive.

Surprising this has only just surfaced given that players were pulled from the Swans/Giants game on Sunday.

Maybe Rowan was not as forthcoming as he might have been? On the positive side he was in the hotspot and has not tested positive-yet. We have to hope it stays that way.

This we already know so if Marshall turns out to be positive we will have the Cows in the frame as well.

AFLPA pushing for a bye, wonder if Gil and his stubborn mates at AFL house take notice. Seems the most sensible option.
SA and VIC most probably could be free by early next week. Lose the stupid bye before finals and play next weekend even if 50% crowd
Trouble is we can’t train

We told you not to fu**in believe anything that campaigner Rowe had to say.
Rowe was correct in what he reported. Port and Crows players were shifting interstate. Its just that things changed.

The Rowan Marshall exposure was probably a big part, they've now decided to avoid having a potentially exposed Port Adelaide team travel interstate. But reporting that would just be gossip/speculation.

Australia had such a big advantage at the start of the pandemic. An island nation miles away from the hotspots across the world.
3 states now in lockdown.

And 3 full days since our Prime Minister made a public statement or appearance.

Leadership!
He's realised he can do more for the fight against covid by staying in hiding and saying nothing.

Trouble is we can’t train

I doubt that we would be staying in Adelaide if we could not train. I suspect a deal has been brokered between the AFL and the SA Government. I reckon we will probably be operating in some sort of COVID bubble. At least whatever happens it is the same for both sides.

If you read the reports, the flights were cancelled. You're assuming that staying isn't a decision that hasn't been forced on them.

Remember when it was only Dan's hotels that leaked???

Remember when ADF was the key to prevent transmission of a incredibly infectious virus in hotels?

Remember this narrative that the feds and Murdoch media pushed for months 12 months ago...

Remember when the feds and NSW government laughed at the idea of purpose built quarantine last October?

Seems like Tredders is the only reliable source in SA on what is happening with our 2 AFL teams.

To be fair though, he has actually said all three options.
The only one he hasn’t said is bye week 😂.

Having driven past Alberton and seen the buses there earlier this arvo I reckon the confusion lies with the messaging from the AFL rather than Tredders.

He is doing what most others aren't - waiting until he gets a credible statement (from the club) then reporting.

Pretty clear (to me anyway) that the AFL has been in intense negotiations with the Vic and SA governments today with respect to travel /training exemptions and acting accordingly. Tredders makes it clear SA Gov refused to budge on training exemptions whereas Vic said yes.

Time will tell what actually transpired.

But Melbourne is lockdown right? How does this make sense?

Melbourne's lockdown is harsher in some ways than others (ie the 5km radius rule) and laxer in others (eg allowing intimate partners who don't live together to see each other). Also in the latter category, professional sports people have generally been included in the categories of essential workers. The below is extracted from the list for the latest lockdown.

That means professional sports people can train and get access to all necessary services provided by their clubs here. Also, it's not just an exception negotiated by the AFL (though they may have had a role in getting it there in the first place).

The inclusion of professional sports people on Victoria's list was basically put there to facilitate the Australian Open and has remained there since then.

Also essential: thoroughbred horse racing (amongst a lot of other things). That's been controversial, as you can imagine.
