Go back in this thread and read what many from this Lions board were saying and have maintained well before the season started that yes the medical advice was seriously flawed way back then. The medical “experts” such as Greg Hunt / Chief Medical Officer are puppets being propped up and spouting a narrative to support the governments economic position.
100% agree.

So this is my wish for the day - selected city and suburban car parks should be immediately turned into homeless shelters. One person per car park with a car park space between them. Families at same ratio but only empty car parks on either side.

Screen for alcohol and drugs with problem people evicted and non problem people being monitored closely. Maybe a different level? See food comment below for source if monitors).

Portable toilets be set up so no entry door and loads of hand washing capacity.

It’d be great if the mobile washing machines and showers could visit these sites and if bedding could be provided, but live without those initially just to get these people safe. Their lives do matter.

Lastly, bring in navy or army or airforce kitchens to pump out basic food and provide soft security. With the food banks and soup kitchens closed people are in horrendous normal health situations before you add covid.

If you are a journalist of social influencer at least start a conversation about these people, doesn’t have to be this idea. It desperately needs to be addressed.

Can you imagine this happening in America.

Recreational and sporting shooters will no longer be able to buy ammunition and firearms until the COVID-19 emergency is over.
Police said applications for ammunition and permits have doubled in the past week, which led to the crackdown.
"There was no legitimate need for this attempt at stockpiling, so we're nipping it in the bud right now," said Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton.
He noted over 2000 applications have been received in the past week, compared to around 1000 or less on an average week.

Personally, I think ScoMo's game plan is to create the circumstances to allow as many of the underpriviledged to die asap. It's obvious. They only want to save money, as yesterday showed.

To quote another great and dearly lamented PM, "they never vote for us anyway".

If only Shorty had got the nod instead of the lowest ALP vote on record.

And all this crap from idiots like you while all my immediate family members are daily in the front line and strong chances of getting hit.

It's enough to make you despair.
Bill Shorten would have run scared from this thing. With his tail between his legs.

WA is doing a much more pleasant version of this already...

Only 9 new cases in WA.

We're looking pretty good if we keep away from people from the eastern states or cruise ships

I'm still not sure we should be paying to much attention to the numbers. Yes they've been good for a few days now, although I noticed Victoria and Queensland are up again today. But just looking at the testing criteria for here in Queensland, how many could we (possibly) be missing?

A person is eligible for testing if they have a fever (or history of fever) or acute respiratory symptoms, and, in the last 14 days:
  • they were a close contact or a household contact of a confirmed case
  • they had been overseas, including on a cruise.
Testing is also possible for people who have a fever (or history of fever) or acute respiratory symptoms, AND:
  • work in vulnerable settings such as healthcare, aged or residential care, military, correction facilities, detention centres and boarding schools.
  • live in an area where an outbreak has occurred
  • live in a First Nations community.

Only 20 initially.

How good is that!! I’d consider moving to wa but I don’t like their footy teams.

Seriously though, if we start treating our most vulnerable well now surely we can’t just turf them in 12 months when this is all over.

Interesting story about the prepper crowd and their buying habits

- supermarket sales slowing down though 40% above this time last year
- prepper crowd have moved on to alcohol and bunnings stuff
- part perception of lockdown but also some ppl have more money as you cant go to pub/restaurant
- electrical sales up 59% on this time last year, what are people buying?

Daily tests in NSW have dropped by half since the "peak" in cases a few days ago.

Positive spin: less sick people coming in to get tested means less people to get tested.

Negative spin: testing criteria is too strict and we're running out of people to test.

Yep, you can take a glass half full or empty perspective on so much of this data. If you have a look at the data of cases per million population on google for example. You could argue that countries like China, Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Pakistan, India, Mexico, etc etc have this bad boy under control....

I don’t believe the preper crowd are responsible for the rise in alcohol or Bunnings sales.

Alcoholics, and regular pub drinkers will be responsible for the rise in alcohol sales.

The rise in people working from home, and to a lesser extent the recently stood down people, will be responsible for the rise in Bunnings sales.

People, mostly prepers and panic buyers, are buying fridges and freezers.

Us, we just bought a stand-alone, queen size hammock. And winter clothes for our 18 month old daughter.

Good thing we got in on the Bonds sale before they shut their doors.

We bought a second or third hand pool table. Bit beat up but the novelty fun factor will only last as long as the shutdown.

Gotta love gumtree

I just bought some paint, so I have something to do at home when in total lock down or when I run out of work.

My argument to the notion of there not being enough testing and or there being loads of undiagnosed cases is this - where are the deaths that would accompany those numbers? you might miss infections but you can't miss deaths or patients in ICU.

As both patients in ICU and deaths are also low, that should indicate cases are low - and if somehow it doesen't correlate that way, then that's good as well - because say there is another 10k cases we don't know about and no deaths, then that means the mortality rate is even lower than the .3 is is now.

Makes sense.

Also with the normal cold and flu season starting we need everyone who sniffles to be tested to stop a resurgence. Those 15 minute colour change tests are game changers. Hope we can manufacture them here in massive numbers.

Good news you would think is that cold & flu season will be very minimal this year around with everybody living very isolated lives.

So Trump administration rules gun shops 'essential' during virus
American's and their Second Amendment rights. So glad i don't live in that sort of society.

The last paragraph of article dated 31/3/2020 (DHS =Department of Homeland Security)

The NRA thanked President Donald Trump for the DHS ruling. The NRA has been an unflinching backer of Trump, pumping about $30 million toward his 2016 campaign.
