NOTRE DAME ONLINE BY NEXT WEEK

All University of Notre Dame classes will be delivered online by the end of next week as the tertiary educator joins others across the nation in shutting down its campuses in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19.

An email sent to Notre Dame students last night said the university had “commenced transitioning from face to face teaching to online delivery of classes” on Monday.

By midnight tomorrow all Fremantle campus classes in the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Education, Law, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Philosophy and Theology, the Notre Dame Study Centre and the Research Office will be delivered online.

The Schools of Business, Health Sciences, Physiotherapy and the VET Diploma of Nursing delivered in Broome will also be online only from next Saturday, March 28.

UWA, Curtin and now Notre Dame, ECU and Murdoch will certainly follow for WA

Havent read the previous 97 pages so apologies if this has been raised but take a few minutes and google "crimson contagion"......The US Govt commissioned a review into the countries ability to cope with a pandemic (in this case a strain of influenza).......the results were as expected .........unprepared / ill equipped........predicted 500k deaths.........that was 2019........ironical hey

I am also of the opinion that there is a cohort of people who are underplaying the seriousness of the issue by citing the relative few number of cases thus far and clinging on to differnces between us and Italy and the US as justifications for claims that it wouldn't be as serious here as it is in those countries.

If you think our Governments have overreacted which specific measures do you beieve go to far?

On the one hand it carries on that things are progressing out of control, then on the other it supports the current measured approach.

This is just flat out disingenuous.

Surely the absolute peak of Zombie pop culture is Shaun of the Dead!
I don't get the Zombie pop culture crap with relation to this virus, unless the next phase of the virus is Zombies start to appearing in Wuhan, then I'll start stocking my nuclear bunker with Toilet paper, pasta and Vanilla Coke. :)

The Chinese government has been suppressing the zombie element of this for weeks. Didn't you hear Trump let the cat out of the bag when he told us that "people are dying who have never died before"?

On Italy, even the non-urban, regional towns and villages are largely apartment buildings with surrounding farmland.

Very different setup.

Some of the regional towns are basically still hilltop fortresses.

Good. I hope a zombie apocalypse happens.

All you people bagging 'The Walking Dead' - "it's boring after season 2 blah blah blah"

Some of us are still watching and taking notes.

I enjoyed the Last Ship myself. It's probably more apt here as well as it was about a virus outbreak that killed 90% of the worlds population.

28 days/weeks later, World War Z. The first 3 Resident Evil flicks were decent IMO. Cheesy, but entertaining enough. Milla Jovovich aged bad after that.

Good timing for the RE 3 remake game to come out in April, too.

if toxoplasmosa gondii and the WuBonic Plague join forces we will soon find out

Not at all. I am very calm but realise the potential seriousness of the issue. I think government response should rightly be based on the potential seriousness of the issue for Australia, not what has happened so far.

Did I read this morning that the Northern Territory are going to close their borders even though they don't have a single case?
The ACT Government called a State of Emergency after the 2nd or 3rd recorded case, yet I still catch public transport to and from work everyday. The 6.30 bus this morning was packed, all seats were taken and at least a dozen people were standing.
They are quite stringent in some areas, yet self-isolation relies on the trustworthiness of people.

Did he really say that??? Seriously?

And this DH is going to get a second term. God help us all. Bring on the Zombies apocalypse.

It is providing just a small amount of assistance to my very close and trustworthy friend, the Nigerian defence minister, to facilitate some cash transfers. You would be helping to deliver RPG's to those in need and earning double bubble at the same time. I have already said too much though....

I can think of a few folks and organisation in need of an RPG.

Working from home: day 3.

Listened to Kane Cornes’ entire radio show.

Close to breaking point.
You have access to the entirety of human artistic musical endeavors and you choose to listen to that?

I believe it is one of those only true on the internet things. The fact the pretty much everyone believes it is plausible is cause for concern.

World War Z

The book of this is absolutely superb.

The battle of Yonkers is fantastically done. The failure of the world's greatest army at the slow moving feed of the dead.

Just great.
