Not sure if this thread belongs in here, but it would kind of relate to dream team/SC in regard to keeping track of scores.

I've asked quite a few people this but no-one has been able to give me a definitive answer so I'm im hoping BF can help.

When counting a players stats would either of the following examples be counted as a kick?

Scenario 1
1) A player toe pokes the ball through for a goal (i'd assume this counts as a kick)
2) Player chasing after the ball down the wing toe pokes the a few metres ahead of him. (Is this counted as a kick? what if he toe pokes it ahead of himself three times?)

Scenario 2
1) Siren sounds, player has marked in the forward line and has a shot at goal. (assume it would count as kick)
2) Siren sounds, player has marked in backline, chip kicks ball back to umpire (count as a kick?)

Can anyone clarify?

Scenario 1
1. Yes its a kick aswell
2. I dunno. If they toe pocked it 3 times in a row it WOULD NOT count as 3 kicks.

Scenario 2:
1. Yes, its a kick
2. No it is not a kick.

Another one i have wondered about is when a player kicks the ball out on the full. In most cases the kick is counted but not the free against. Is this for all cases?

Scenario 2- Why is it not a kick? Whats the difference? What about a roost from 80m that doesn't get close? Not having a dig, just curious.

What about the old rushed behind handball??? That count as a handball? Gee there are a few im not really 100% on.
Yeah I'm pretty sure it does although not 100%

What about if a player takes a mark and is infringed upon? Does the mark or the free kick against count? Would it depend what the umpire signals?
It depends what the umpire signals.

I dunno, ask the statistician's. A kick to the umpire is useless anyway so why would they count it? A shot at goal from 100meters out actually gets the attention of players and it's part of the game (as in he's having a shot)

Can anyone clarify?

To clear up some confusion - YES I'm pretty sure that does count as a kick.

While watching a game last year the siren went and a player threw the ball back to the umpire. The commentators said he might as well kick it to the ump because it counts as another stat.

The commies aren't always 100% right though, but they sounded like they knew.

Im pretty sure you only get counted on your last kick. Since you are toe poking it to yourself you havent really disposed of it, and until you do which would be your last toe poke (3pts) nothing else would count.

2) Siren sounds, player has marked in backline, chip kicks ball back to umpire (count as a kick?)

Im not sure about this one, but Id assume as long as he didnt mark after the siren or play on partially it would have to be included in the stats as a kick

I think it depends on how the ref ump calls it. If he just ends the quarter and has the ball chipped to him doesn't count. If he signalls that the game is still going then it does.

id hate to lose $20k or watever it is over a technicality issue like the ones mentioned above
