Collingwood has nothing to regret about today - apart from the obvious disappointment of not winning. The Pies were committed, brave and skilfull and didn't deserve to lose - neither did The Lions. It was one of those games where you don't want there to be a winner.

Commiserations and congratulations Pies on a great effort.

Actually, I think the expression goes, it was one of those games where you don't want there to be a loser.

Semantics aside, I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments. It's a shame one team had to lose, and it's a shame that Collingwood lost that game-- but through no fault of their own. They certainly played courageously, and very well technically and tactically, and on any other day, they would be premiers.

Mick Malthouse's tears at the end of the game, for me, will go down as one of the most endearing sports images of this or any year.

And Nathan Buckley, along with Anthony Rocca, among others, played at a higher class today.

But fear not, Pies fans-- your team, with its young playing list and a general nucleus still intact next fall, they will be back next September. And in due time, another Grand Final will be beckoning for them.

A lot of positives to come out of this season, especially when a few so-called experts thought Collingwood wouldn't even make the eight before the campaign began. The best is yet to come...

Cheers,
William

Gallant Effort!

Id like to take this oppurtunity to grant my thanks to Collingwood for making the Granny one of the best of the modern era!!

I like most of us who dont support you guys, dislike you with a passion......... But credit where credit is due!!!!!!

You have a lot to look forward to........

However, weve said this before about other clubs and they have fallen by the way side!!!!!!!!

I was actually thinking to myself during the game, it would be fitting if there was a draw, the AFL would love it, we would get another week of footy, and another grand final!

What's better than a grand final? TWO GRAND FINALS!!

I do believe that Stephen Quartermain himself was suggesting the same thing himself towards the end of the third term!

If a single-digit margin separating the two sides wasn't enough, can you imagine these two teams doing it all over again? In all honesty, that might even wind up being bigger in scope than today's game.

Cheers,
William

I had a feeling that if there was a replay and the weather was fine, Collingwood would have been in for a flogging.

Thanks William.

Not for the first time you show your lack of bias and we appreciate your comments at this sad time for us.

Thanks. Hope you get to experience the ultimate football joy sometime soon (but please not against us!).

No worries, Greg. Just speaking my mind, as usual. And on that note, I thank you for your personal response, I am truly flattered.

I consider myself a footy fan first and a Geelong supporter not too far behind that (or vice versa, even), so I was hoping for an entertaining Grand Final yesterday. Thank goodness we all got that.

If Geelong can enjoy half the fruits of the renaissance that Collingwood enjoyed this season, and building on our narrow miss atthe opportunity of finals footy this year, then we can have a nice deep run into September of our own next season. What Collingwood did this season is to be truly admired, and many other AFL sides should aspire to match it.

Cheers,
William
