Moonee Valley website doesn't mention anything, but thought I'd better get the all clear before I take out a personal loan at the bank

Forget the woeful cox plate field, get on race three, the wonderful world stakes and put everything you have on Fist of Fury. Superstar in the making. Will win group one's. Not sure what it will be paying but destroyed an open at 3yo + field last start even though it was going sideways all over the track. Take the double into whobegotyou if you want to have a cracker day.

You can line up and buy them on the day, however get there early otherwise you'll be in a fair queue. Capacity is about 38,000, they'll get close but its rare for them to lock the gates, particularly given the limited hype about the race this year. A lot of people just stay away from the Valley and save themselves for Flemington.

O'Shea took him to the Valley this morning, looked alright. But he said they might not run this week and go straight into the Ascot Vale (or Coolmore as I think its now known) on Derby Day.

Could any horse in Australia do what Princess Coup did in the Kelt (over 2000, now a dual winner), absolutely not. The 3rd horse came out and ran 2nd in CC and the 2nd ran close up. She is a moral, people that think Sam will get too big a head start under the 47.5 may be right, but Princess Coup can make a run 1000 out and still come home like a freight train. Absolute moral.

Plus as some experienced people on here should no, if you made a career on backing 3 year old fillies in the Cox Plate, you would be broke 100 times over.

I'm liking Sousa in the Vase as well, looked like he could have gone around again in the Spring Champion, off the top of my head he is by Galileo and obviously will stay all day and is also my confident pick in the Derby, the Sydney form is not holding up down here, but you could just tell he was good enough, plus he smashed a horse called Predatory Pricer, who is very good and that form has stood up through Caymans.

Also, on Elvstroem, I can honestly tell you that these Elvis' horses are not going to be as good as you think, sure he was a champ and he might pull one or two out, but i wouldn't be trusting them with my money on they way they looked at the sales. HE was also well bred, but these colts were not looking the goods to me.

Have to say its been a long time since Ive been so underwhelmed by one of the Big 3.
God forbid it takes Gai winning it to make it memorable.

Interestingly Raheeb, the ranked outsider in this Saturday's Cox Plate, ran the quickest last 400m today at MV so he might be worth chucking in your multiples for a bit of value.

Alamosa, trained by Mick Price, wasn't going at full pace this morning since her dashing run on the weekend in a bid to attempt to keep the horse nice and fresh for this weekend's race.

I'm liking Maldivian at this early stage if he accepts his nomination, should get out of the barriers well and run a cheeky race at odds.

Doesn't look like an overly strong field like other years like others have mentioned but it will still be an intriguing race nonetheless.

I still can't put a finger on why big Kav decided to put WH in the Caufield Cup instead of the Cox Plate. After the Turnball is was quite clear even with the rough run that he just couldn't respond to the whip, not even the slightest.

There has been a swag of money for Sam Miss yet the general consensus on here is princess coup. Are these 2 the main chances? (Obviously regarding the odds) But is there any other real contenders?

I think the sprint will be one of the better contested races of the day. Typhoon Zed, Lucky Secret (assume he goes in this and not the weaker sprint), Bel Mer and Belong to Many and throw in Vormista and even Morgan Dollar looks to be one of the fields of the day, although that probaly says something about the quality of the day.

For mine might be on lucky Secret as I thin Typhoon Zed might be to short, and will have a bit on Belong to Many and cheer it home for my brother.
