What? you want him to say finals or bust next year despite having a young/inexperienced list?Trying to lower fan’s expectations from day one.
AFL360 doing exactly the same thing. Makes it sound like finals are 5-8 years away.
Unacceptable.
Will be very happy if he is true to his word and makes me proud of the team, win, lose or draw.
Because I haven’t been able to feel that on many occasions over the last few years.
"winning is a process, and we're going to get to work"Some more insight into him...

Great choice of coach. A lot of people speaking so highly of him. We still have one big problem. Who kicks our goals?
Is this why his nickname is Fly?!Great to see the love in this thread.
We all need some good news. Welcome McFly.
“I spoke to the playing group before about certain things we want to see in place straight away when we get back.
“And some of them put their hand up and said there’s things they want to make sure they want to do when they get back and we will hold them to account to that. We will get them to honour their word.”
Gonna set some standards indeed.
I like him apart from his clenched hands bobbing up and down. He was understandably nervous, but handled the questions well. I like that he has a teaching background and his life experience extends beyond the football field, and that he has served a long apprenticeship, including at several successful clubs. Good luck to the guy. I hope it works for him and the club. Also good to see the end of Harvey and Sanderson, with the prospect also of securing Leppitsch.
I don't think he uses 'umm' as often as Harvey, but I did notice his use of them. There were times when he would string a couple of sentences together without 'umming'. He was nervous so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He even slurred a few words early. He is basically an articulate guy.And every second word being “umm”. As you say, what happens on the field is more important than media performance (which he has plenty of time to work on). Wishing him every success. I’m excited [emoji4]

3 years with a 2 year trigger? He mentioned a 3 yr term in the presser.
In his interview on 3AW they were talking 5 years.

Yes TradeDraft. There was a feast of viewing there. Well done!Good work Dave - excellent research
It’s a 3 year deal (that hasn’t been signed yet lol) but the 3AW question was about what will happen with Collingwood in 5 years, not about his contract. He mentioned a 3 yr term in the presser.

There's no guarantees with these appointments. I think in at least one of the interviews he alluded to psychological profiles being done - which is reassuring but no guarantee.I just hope we stick by him, bring in senior assistants and support him when the chips are down.
We'll have tough times and the last thing I want to see is him hung out to dry like Rhyce Shaw was at NM. That was sad to watch, seeing him so dejected so I hope we bring in not just Leppitsch but another wiser head for support.
My big concern is how he handles the pressure / off field heat when we're down. Not just next year but most likely the one after that.
