Do you think he really had any say in that, despite the boloney they came up with at the presser?

Didnt watch the presser cause really dont give a shit about Clarkson or Hawthorn
I was only going on what he was saying after the change over was announced

Welcome home Fly. Excellent appointment, can tell by his presser, the care and respect he will have for his players and staff. Obviously big on culture, development and creating a good positive environment. I think he will be around alot longer then his initial 3 year contract. Exciting times ahead...Go Pies....

He didn't jump, he was pushed - first to call time after 2022 and then to give up on that final year to get Mitchell in ASAP.

The one thing you're right about though is not giving a shit about Hawthorn (or Carlton for that matter) - time to take that crap to the "other clubs" thread.

Welcome back Coach McCrae. Looking forward to a new era at Collingwood.

Also not sure what these two are doing or who else would consider. But worth a reach out to Rhyce Shaw (for a minor roll at the club) and Starcevich as our fitness coach?

Now that I’ve floated back down to earth, some more thoughts on McRae:
  • He is very experienced. Not as a senior coach, obviously, but as a coach at different levels across several clubs. Bucks’ lack of experience held him back in the first few years. This was also an issue with Sam Mitchell, if we’d appointed him.
  • His reputation as a good man manager was backed up by his language and messages today. Very pleased with what we’ve heard so far.
  • I’m excited for the footy department/assistant coach appointments yet to be made, and his involvement in them.
  • In one of his interviews, he talked about the long and ‘layered’ process he went through to get the job. Hooray! This would have included presentations on our list, our gaps, what he sees as strengths and weaknesses, which players need extra work or a change in role. To be a fly (😝) on the wall!
  • But a big question - game day coaching. Obviously will be revealed in 2022, but it wasn’t always a strength under Bucks.

Have read it Joel. Sanderson won't be there next year, unless plans change or someone falls through in recruiting, potentially has a job there but was told weeks ago they were both out of contract and likely gone. I'll stick too that.

You could be right. Strange that they would be talking about another role if that is the case though.

what I love about this interview is him talking about having winning habits more and more consistently, and it being a process. it doesn't happen overnight. Also loved him saying how he wants everyone to be side by side, tight, close.
