Creating music.

Anyone here know of any decent free music syth programs. I'm interested in having a bit of a fiddle and creating my own whacky music. But i'm after something thats simple to use and what not.

FruityLoops is "FREE" (think it's called FL Studio these days, haven't bothered trying to make music for awhile).

I mainly focused on making rap beats for mates to rap over, with sometimes hilarious results, but no musical talent whatsoever. Sounds like that's what you're after

like the honorable minister I recommend Fruityloops, can make drum and bass or hip hop quite easily...'proverbial sam' 'saturday night at the movies' 'hungry oblong' are some of my more comical but catchy hits

Fruity Loops is by far the best program I've come across.

I've also tried Ableton, but never really got the hang of it.

Creating music? my current favourite is an acoustic guitar and a glass of red wine after listening to a few records that really inspire you.

For guitarist's out there, Guitar Pro 4 or 5 is great to compose any song ideas through, though you'll have to obtain the serial code somewhere.
