Yeah I knew it wasn't many. The highest successful run chase ever is 7 for 418, and Pakistan now needs more than that. I'd say there's more chance of me listening to 5AA :).

They'll bat long enough to ensure the Sunday ticket holders have something to watch (weather, another Paki collapse notwithstanding).

Would Tubby Taylor or Pup Clarke be as concerned if Callum Ferguson or Travis Head had to come out and batted for a couple of overs? Their concern for Maddison's career is almost sickening.

Your NSW bias is showing boys.

I only heard a little of it so can't say much. I feel for him for that innings. Imagine his test career comes down to that innings where we're going for runs and he ends up with an average of 1.67.

I just don't get why he was there in the first place. We struggle against any sort of movement, so to remedy that we pick a guy who can whack a ball but shows little ability to play with soft hands. The argument that Ferguson is too old is a joke, would they have dumped Voges if he wasn't injured? Ferguson could be around for the another 4 years and be the same age as Voges. Scapegoat.

I'd like to see Travis Head show he can change his game a bit before he gets selected for Tests. I wonder how he would fare in the subcontinent or England where we need batsmen who can tough it out in difficult conditions. Pumped Jake Lehmann was able to hang around against NSW and get 47 runs for the win.

Maddinson is a lucky bastard.

Makes his debut in Adelaide a batsman's paradise and makes 0, but team wins after Yahpees take foot off the pedal having already won the series before the Test.

In Brisbane, Smith and Handscomb bat all night session of day 1, means he avoids the worst conditions, bats in middle of the arvo and makes 1 today. We will beat the Pakis and he will get another go, because there is no shield games on for another 6 or 7 weeks and he will probably get to play at MCG Test and if he makes a couple of 20's or 30's he will play at the SCG Test as well.
It'd be harsh to drop him and not give him a few tests to adjust to the game if they feel he is up to it. But why pick him in the first place? Do they really see him being a success in India?

The selectors have a lot to answer for. Pick Mennie for Hobart, should have been Sayers given conditions perfect for swing, he's the form bowler of Shield cricket and the form bowler of the last 3-4 years. Drop Mennie after one test, do they now not rate his ability? He's not worth persisting with for a few tests? Pick Ferguson who's showed class at ODI level and then backed it up in the longer form of the last couple of seasons. Gets dropped after a test, no longer good enough or worth persisting. Moan about our lack of ability to hang around and deal with the moving ball, answer? Pick Maddinson who plays decent short form cricket by playing with concrete hands. But he's young and has talent, apparently. Crazy

Boof came out and said (about Ferguson and Mennie) that they were never going to be permanent players in the side, i honestly lost a little respect for him considering they are persisting with a player in Maddinson who is more useless than tits on a bull, the second innings should have been Maddinsons time to shine, aussies were looking for quick runs before the dinner break but he failed miserably. The hardest pill to swallow is that there is more than a good chance that he will be picked for the boxing day test based on him doing absolutely nothing.

I am not saying that his spot should be filled by Sayers, Mennie or Ferguson but there are tons of non-NSW players who are not getting a look in because of the fact they don't wear the baggy blue.

Case in point: if Moises Henriques had played for any other state, would he have even got a look in? An ashtray on a motorbike would be more useful.
