Hurricanes lost Dunk on the 2nd ball but were then 1/41 after 5 overs when Hales took Tait for 14 runs in one over. Then after 15 overs the Hurricanes are 7/80 and Tait has 3/22 off 4 overs.

How does a team score 39 runs in 10 overs in a T20? You'd do better by slogging at every ball.

Game over. Partnership of 29 in 1 over to complete the match. Pollard hits a 6 off the first ball he faces, Dean hits 6 sixes, 4 of them off the last 4 balls he faces.

So we have Jono Dean with 54no in 35 balls with 1 four and 6 sixes. Tim Ludeman 54 in 33 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Shaun Tait 3/22 in 4 overs.
Tim Ludeman is MOTM.

Now that was an entertaining game of cricket, better than the drivel served up last night by the Thunder.

Read a fascinating rumour last night, about the real reason why the Melbourne Test ended when it did. Word is that channel 9 wanted an end by 6.30pm, to enable it to get the news in before the Big Bash game started. The message was allegedly relayed during the last drinks break.

If true, I find that somewhat bizarre!!! Mind you, it does give a plausible explanation as to why the last 4 overs weren't bowled.

Hodge's 42 against Perth saved Adelaide's bacon in that game. No one could score against their bowling attack.

Anyone see the presser with Boofa?
someone asked him if he thinked that Australia made a mistake getting stuck into Virat Kholi, boof's response was "we haven't started on him yet... Awesome response.

Gotta love Boof - it'll be on for young and old at the SCG next week.....

Interesting stats on Mitchell Johnson in the last year or two. When Ryan Harris has been in the team, Johnno has taken 96 wickets at around 20 per wicket. When Harris has been absent, Johnson has taken less than 50 wickets at more than 40 per wicket. It just illustrates Harris' immense value to the team: fingers crossed that he's fit for next year's Ashes series, so we can kick some Pommy butt!!!

As good a one day game of cricket I have ever seen. WA 77 defeat Qld 62. I watched it in black and white as a kid.

Ian Brayshaw who played in the game released a book about the game 6-8 weeks ago - called The Miracle Match.

When the game finished and everyone ran onto the ground to congratulate Dennis Lillee and WA, there was a bloke limping along. By the time he had caught up with the main group the limp had gone so he had probably jumped the fence in excitement, fallen over and hurt his ankle.

Another great game one day game which was low scoring - the 3rd game of WSC in 1992/93 season. Australia made 101 - there were rain interruptions, match reduced to 30 overs and the white ball was moving all over the place and Phil Simmons was somehow bowling hand grenades and took 3 early wickets. The Windies replied with only 87 - bowled out in the last over. Taylor took 4 catches - one was catch of the year, 2 others were rippers and he won man of the match. It was my first game ever at the SCG as I moved there 6 months earlier and I was introduced to the one day Sydney hoon element I had read about for several years.

These 2 games showed you dont need high scoring games to be exciting. produce a pitch with plenty of juice in it and you can get great games.

I read that one recently, excellent book and I really recommend cricket fans read it. Focuses on each player to take the field that day, absolutely star studded line-ups but there are a number of guys who were domestic titans whose stories aren't quite so well known.

The Melbourne Renegades finished third in tonight's local derby against the Melbourne Stars (daylight second). The Stars made 169 off their 20 overs, before the Renegades slumped to an embarrassing 9 for 42. Only a last wicket stand of 15 got them to 57 - a BBL record low score.

Gee I'd love to see the Power win a local derby by 112 points :-)

Sounds like one of our best games when I played for Kenilworth Third Grade Amateurs. We were continually thrashed, the grading of amateur sides was not very good at that time and there were some teams(we were one) who were placed up to 3 grades too high.

Mitchell Johnson ruled out of the Sydney Test. Lehmann says, "We won't be taking any risks with him." I guess with the series already won, and the World Cup just around the corner, there was no point playing him if he's not quite right.

Siddle or Starc to come in?
