England have had a miserable summer, including possibly their lowest point ever on Australia Day
to their credit, the Poms found some fight and managed to turn their form around almost overnight BUT doesn't this just show that ODI cricket is a funny game and there is only a 5-10% difference between the top sides and the middle-tier sides?
need more proof?
after missing the tri-series finals, Stephen Fleming's captaincy was under pressure and there was talk he would be replaced (can you believe that?
)...now that they've won a few one-dayers against the reigning world champs he, and the Black Caps, are suddenly superheroes (and good on them - they played very well
)
I have noticed however that Stephen Fleming has shown the class to resist the urge to gloat while the champs are down - he probably remembers well the floggings from the past and will not get carried away
conversely, Smith has jumped at the opportunity to gloat and I am looking forward to the next time his side face the Aussies - he may learn some of the humilty he failed to display when his side was completely destroyed in two recent Test series
my point is that form is fickle beast and it is a credit to the Ausssies that we have managed to have such incredibly consistent form over so many years
our odds are longer for the WC after our wretched recent form but we know that a streak like this can snap as quickly as it began - I think I'll get a bet on
Aussies celebrate Australia Day by heaping more humiliation on England
ENGLAND today crashed to their most humiliating defeat of a miserable tour Down Under after capitulating for a sorry 110 in their one-day series match with Australia...Australia were almost halfway to their target, at 54 for one, by the interval and finished the most one-sided encounter between the sides this winter before the floodlights took effect.

) is a funny old game) You're mostly right, Everyone goes on form dips and it's how teams deal with them which shows off how strong they are.
