I flicked the TV on yesterday thinking it was starting, I'm sure it used to start earlier then this.

Edit: Going by AI, looks like it moved from starting on the 2nd of January in 2009. Has been mainly the 3rd since then - with a couple of exceptions.

Yeah, used to be 2nd, then they moved it to 3rd as too close to Boxing Day.

Really should have started today, particularly in Sydney which needs the weekend to get decent crowds.

A few years back the players complained about the short turnaround between the Boxing Day (Melbourne) and New Years (Sydney) tests, so CA shuffled the Sydney Test back by a day.

Of course, finishing the Boxing Day Test rendered the whole exercise moot, but CA could hardly have known that was going to happen when they were putting their fixture together a year (or more) ago.

EDIT: I note the previous posts about it moving to 3rd January, with this Test starting on the 4th. It's probably because the Adelaide Test was so close to the Boxing Day Test. With 3x Tests back-to-back-to-back, they decided to have an extra rest day between the Boxing Day and NY Tests.

I think there should be a weight and size limit on the umpires. How are you meant to get close to the stumps with a fat umpire at your end?

Neser is coming close to bowling no balls on the side of the popping crease because of the umpire. Look, Kumar has been on a good wicket by the size of him but the bowlers will struggle to get onto the wicket, at least Gaffney is making it a fair game

Duckett out already to a sub par effort not even worthy of a grade cricket. Christmas almighty, there was no need to even feel for that. To me that's worthy of dropping until they know there game at test level.
