Watching Starc he literally can't bowl two balls in the same spot.

He hence can't build pressure and relies on the odd brilliant ball for his wickets. (which no doubt he can do with the new ball)

I'd hate to bowl from the other end when he's playing, as he just releases the pressure on batsmen way, way too often.

I know we defend the bowling unit a lot but it wasn't the batting that let us down these past two tests.

Two day 5 pitches with plenty of runs on the board and they not only couldn't bowl them out...they would have lost two record run chases in a row if it weren't for Vihari's hamstring and Jadeja's thumb. That's on no one but the bowlers, there were plenty of runs on the board.

Edit: and the Indians didn't even have Kohli.
