Ok. Thanks Nate and 75... I hadn't realised it was that bad an injury. Poor bugger never gets a decent crack.

The concussion side of things is always going to raise red flags. However, as regards career interruptions, he has a way to go to be messed about like Cummins was. So, there’s plenty of hope. Unfortunately, the concussion issue could end him on the spot.

Caleb Jewell hit his first ever first-class ton for Tassie today.

Snap. Was just about to post the same thing. It feels a little disrespectful towards the bowler.

Good seed that knocked him over though. Nice shape.

Not a big fan. If i was a quick bowler and someone was doing that, you'd be sorely tempted to forget about the no ball line and bowl from 18 yards and then see how his leaving technique works then !

But having said that, I think Smith is nuttier than a peanut slab, so i don't think he even realises what he's doing

Jsuz Kiwi. You're harsh bro. I reckon my batting technique pretty much resembles what Smith was doing in that clip.

Except I am trying to hit the bloody thing instead of trying to leave it.

I raise your peanut slab by a pineapple chunk.

BUGGER! Oh well, get him right for the Poms.

=====

Test opener Will Pucovski has opted for season-ending surgery on his injured shoulder which has failed to respond to treatment. The 23-year-old would have been playing “under duress” for the rest of the domestic summer if he didn’t choose to go under the knife.

The young batting star partially dislocated his right shoulder while fielding during his Test debut against India at the SCG in January, after making a first innings half-century, and hasn’t been able to play since.

Pucovski will undergo a full shoulder reconstruction, and is looking at a recovery time of at least five months... Choosing surgery now leaves Pucovski with the best part of nine months to rehabilitate and prepare for next summer’s Ashes series when England tours Australia.

That sounds pretty rough.

I dislocated my left shoulder in 1976 and although I was treated by Richmond doctor Granger I never had surgery.

I have constant pain and suffer some affect almost every day and have done pretty much ever since.

I hope Will's reconstruction goes well.

Its the walking towards the bowler with the bat raised bit that's annoying. He's in no danger from my slow mediums floating down like autumn leaves though !

Pineapple lumps (thats what they're called here)...love em !

The Vics are 5 for 87 with another 54 runs to win. Lyon has match figures of 10 for 63.

It's been a crazy game... Vics had NSW at 8-91 before Abbott went crazy and almost doubled the score.

Also, it's an interesting batting lineup the Vics have. Gotch at 6 & Pattinson at 7 doesn't instill confidence (especially when 5-87). Patto's a decent bat, but I'm yet to see someone like him or Cummins come in at 7. I can only think that they're trying to send Sutherland a message of some kind.

Also, Lyon hasn't been given a spell at all this 2nd innings. He took the new ball and has bowled 24 overs - only broken up by the tea break!

EDIT: VICS WIN BY 4 WICKETS! Right back in the Shield hunt now.

Nice innings by Fraser-McGurk to steer Vic's top a win over NSW, and finished it in style with a very nice 4 of Lyon's 1st ball of final over.

Good signs from an 18-year-old up against an attack of Hazlewood, Starc, Copeland, Abboott, and Lyon. Vic had a middle-order collapse and need someone to stand firm.

With Will Pucovski having surgery it is likely JFM will play the rest of the Shield season which will be great experience for him.

Patto will be kicking himself. Just had to leave that last ball and he gets himself a not out.

Has there ever been a worse First Class cricketer than Seb Gotch?

First class batting average of just under 36. There are blokes who have been in and out of the national team recently with FC averages worse than that - and they aren't even wicketkeepers.

Starc with one wicket for the match and he got Pattinson, of all players, in the last innings.

And Patto got himself out. Seemed like he was caught in two minds as to whether to try and belt a ball outside off to the cover boundary to win the match or just play it conservatively and see out the over. Ends up playing a nothing shot outside off and dragging it back on. Starc was pretty awful and very inconsistent with his line and length.

My post probably wasn't clear enough.

Patto loves to think of himself as an all-rounder, but he chucks his wicket frequently!

And yes Starc was awful all match.
