This test is slipping away from us . Our inability to stem the flow of runs today is symptomatic of the last 3 tests . 2-2 is probably a fair reflection of the two teams .
Did myself a favour and turned it off. Watching barbecue showdown instead.

So winning the first two tests didn't help? Lol

It sure did, still didn't help us not get embarrassed in the final 2 tests. Without rain we lose this series. Cummins going at 5 an over the last 2 tests

Just horrible horrible cricket

It’s a bit like having a debate over who is worse out of North and West Coast but I still reckon if your batsmen don’t put scores on the board it’s hard to pull it out of the fire as a bowling unit. A bit hard to play big shots if you’re a 100 to 150 behind on the first dig.

Bowling units been worse. Batters have been meh but they've posted enough to defend every time. Bowlers have thrown away so many opportunities with horrible bowling and gone at 5 an over with 0 plans

Jobs done , retained the ashes , this match we look like just going through the motions. Getting some sideways movement, no worries just bang it in and give the ball no chance of moving . Don’t think anything over 300 is gettable by us .

Awful day's cricket for us and in all honesty would've taken 2-2 at the start of the series.

Lots of questions for Aus after this though, lots of older players looking tired.

I guess it’s the way it’s gone that has been so disappointing. In hindsight we probably missed a trick at Headlingley and blew several chances to get in front/win the game. From 3-0 up they could’ve played this shit in the final two tests and no one would’ve cared. Further, there were a few turning points in this series if you look back on it:

- Lyon blowing out his calf left the bowling attack very unbalanced.

- Mark Wood and Chris Woakes have changed the trajectory of the series. In the first two tests Australia didn’t look too bothered facing Anderson and Robinson but the pace of Wood and control of Woakes have meant England can keep nipping out wickets or control the run rate.

- Boland getting slapped in the first and third tests put further pressure on a pretty stretched bowling attack. Starc and Hazlewood have both had injury/fitness concerns coming into the series and it was always going to be hard for Cummins to perform and captain well across 6 straight tests if it came down to the wire. The fourth seamer had to stand up, like Pattinson did in 2019. It didn’t happen. Moreover, Lance Morris and Jhye Richardson being unavailable left us scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Wood and woakes are averaging 19 each, had they played all series we'd be ****ed

I reckon Murphy has a good future if he’s developed properly though. Too much to ask him to win it for us this series.

Beyond this series they probably should give Harris an extended run as opener. Similarly, persist with Green rather than M Marsh.

Put Neser and Boland away like they did to Jackson Bird. Find the next lot of pace bowlers to rotate through as Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins won’t be around much longer if they keep having to play back to back tests. Morris and Richardson should be locks if fit. Matt Kelly, Will Sutherland and Mitch Perry should all be looked at for the home summer.

Consider Carey’s position as keeper. Consider Cummins’ position as captain. At the very least one of Marsh or Head should be white ball skipper.

Cummins should be sacked as captain and told to worry about bowling again. Been rubbish this series. Green ain't ready. Marsh looked better with bat and ball and deserves his spot. Warner buzz off. Travis head should open with Khawaja and give someone less pressure in the middle order to come in

Reckon 377+ is looking mighty tough, would need serious contributions from players who haven't done it all series, or at least contributed together as a batting unit. Been a fantastic series though, lot of tired mornings through the past month, been some gripping play, 2-2 would be probably reflect the contest well enough.

With Broad announcing his retirement, I full expect us to cave in at some point and hand him a last test win . It seems a rebuild is in order for us , but I wouldn’t be surprised ( but very disappointed)if they use next summer as a farewell tour for our dads army . So on behalf of those of us that have sat up and watched the series, show some spine you feckers and make them at least earn it .( Talking about the top 7 )

A true Warner innings so far, offered nothing all series but now in full self preservation mode to get him his last precious summer in Aus.

A 50 will force the weak selectors to give him another run.

Would be incredible if we somehow pulled this off overnight. The English attack looked pretty toothless last night but they'd still have to be favourites to win from here [emoji848]

I think we'll probably win this? Pitch is looking dead, Englands spinner can't bowl, Mark Wood looks injured, could be an incredible win and finish to a series.

No rain and we win this one easily. Nice to see Murphy dismiss their two best bats. The kid has something.

Strange viewing last night. Our openers were going along nicely ( kind of funny they wait till last innings of last test ) and England’s bowling looked pedestrian. Then firstly Warner cops a head high beam ball and manages to use his bat as a helmet. Them Khawaja cops a short one to the back of his helmet and requires a new one . Of course England get the ball changed , but the ball that replaced it was a lot newer by looks . Also allowed a bit of moisture onto a dead pitch before calling the covers on . Spirit of Cricket my arse. Should make for an interesting last day . We can win this , we could also collapse. Fecked if I know .
