That's a pretty good win by Victoria up at the GABBA.... pity we can't make the finals of the ING Cup after losing 3 in a row before this game.

Some inspiration for the Redbacks maybe, Lets at least hope they make a game of it today and get past 100. Hope WA bat first, looking forward to seeing Marsh bat after the wraps from Waugh and Langer last week, also look forward to seeing Tait and Cosgrove for the Redbacks, these 2 players are widely tipped to be gun players for many years to come, particularly Tait who is quite sharp

Buggers. I guess he made the move interstate since he wasn't getting in the state squad here.

Didn't happen. Marsh didn't get a bat, but those wraps were certainly justified. I was in Newcastle on the Friday of the game up there when he got his 100; and batted very well.

I'm off to Drummoyne Oval tomorrow for the NSW v Tasmania game. Strange choice of venue - I've been to local footy there, and it's not a bad ground for that, but there's no way that ground's going to be able to cope with having any sort of crowd there.

How was the atmosphere at Drummoyne? I saw a bit of the game on TV and it looked quite good... fairly small but everyone seemed to be having a good time!

Strangely quiet. Drummoyne Oval's a little suburban park ground, and the 5,000 or so that was there today would be close to 10 times what's ever been there before. Densely populated, but, even with NSW probable winners for most of the day, the electric atmosphere just didn't seem to be there.
I decided I'd better get up early and get to the ground in plenty of time, and I'm glad I did. I got the last parking spot anywhere near the ground just before 9:00 - and all day people were late because of parking hassles. And even with port-a-loos and marquees put up, the facilities just couldn't handle it. The catering spots kept running out of food and drink, leaving the long lines of people even more frustrated - and it took 10 minutes just to line up to have a wee.
It was a good day of cricket, but I was fairly hungry by the end of it. But the cricket itself, and the day out with friends, was great fun.

It's a very picturesque ground, and great for local footy and cricket. But as an interstate venue it's just not up to it - the SCG or North Sydney Oval would be better options. The game at Stade de Oz in a couple of weeks will be interesting - but I won't be able to make it because it clashes with the Essendon v Swans trial game at NSO.

I think it's his second or third season playing district cricket in Melbourne, but his first match for Victoria.

I thought it was his first season in Vic.I'm sure he was playing for the WA 2nd's last year.

Well he played 3 One-Dayers for Sussex in 2001 in the County League. He last played for WA 2nd XI in 2000/01 and has been in Victoria ever since, making his state debut on Friday.

His stats for Prahran this year are 660 runs @ 60.00, 3 50's and 3 100's...

Got 122 not out vs Dandenong
104 vs North Melbourne
and 102 vs Frankston

Also got a 99 at Geelong.

Has also taken 7 wickets at 21.4 and 14 catches so far this season for Prahran.

Sussex Cricket Board. More of a 2nd XI, I think. In the Cheltenham & Gloucester trophy, cricket's version of the FA Cup.

Still counts as a "List A" game.

Good enough for me.
