Criteria for AA VC and C

Pathetic.
Enhancing a reputation when it isn’t deserved so they can bang on about a CV when a player retires.
It may not be a ‘real’ team but let’s not give the title of captain to someone who is anything but one.
Hurn is a captain who led his side to a spot no one predicted. How could you not give him the title?
Same goes for Danger, how and why is he given the VC ahead of Hurn? It makes no sense and just makes a mockery of the title.

Well, even when the AA team would actually play a few games against other countries it wouldn't feel wrong for me to just pick the player with most decorated career. He doesn't have to keep the team together for years.

But then it gets talked up like crazy by the media.

So all of a sudden it isn't a useless award.

And now I'm angry.

It shouldn't exist. If it is to exist it should probably go to a captain if there is one in the side. Particularly if his side has defied preseason expectations and finished second on the ladder.

Difficult to give it to a first time AA like Hurn, in my opinion. But it kinda shows how much of a sham the AA team is.

I liked how Buddy turned to Hurn when it was announced and his expression was WTF.

What's the criteria for club captain? Usually your selected by your peers at most clubs. Given the AA is not known till the night the selectors make the selection.

I know, that's my concern also. When we take on the Americans and the Brazilians, we need our captain to be vocal and rally the troops to the cause.

On Hurn, I suspect he fell just short of the profile/recognisability requirements they use for AA Captain. Would have been one of the least well known AA captains of recent times, and being his first AA probably didn't help him (Glass already had 3, even Robert Murphy had scrapped 1). Not really a media character or limelight type, more no-fuss/shy like a JPK or Nathan Jones, despite his fine captaincy.

They probably walked down the street and tossed out the contenders names to public passers by, and Hurn polled low on appearance and name. Which is unfair, but we know how disappointed they all were when Priddis won the Brownlow.

Yep. I thought upon goping to sleep last night I would never wake up as the world was going on implode. The AA team is never right as it never satisfies 100% of fans. The amount of outrage was fascinating, especially regarding Yeos exclusion (he's prob next cab off to rank)

Our wa players dont get the media exposure ...theyll always..bruest made the team with 48 goals...darling kicked 42....yet didn't make squad....kinda over the awards season..
