Ignorant and stupid comment. Maynard could not have been found guilty under AFL rules in place at the time of the accidental collision with Brayshaw. They subsequently changed the rules to cover those situations. If it happened now he’d get 6 weeks at least, regardless of being a Pies player or not.

No. Its far more nuanced than that. Though you appear to be a headline grabber rather than someone who can have a reasonable discussion so I imagine whatever I say you'll try to find some sensationalist take on it.

You have a point that more could be done and the issues can be more nuanced beyond calling someone a name, but how hard is it to not just call someone a name.

Using slurs isn't a necessary part of society, people aren't being suppressed by not being able to use the slurs they desire. How offensive it is or isn't to different people can be debated and how we can manage these things can be debated too, but in the meantime, it's not that hard not to use a slur so just don't do it.

The AFL and its suspensions have been a disgrace for a long time.

This season is almost as bad as any. We had the West Coast player push a Richmond player in the pre season which resulted in Lalor breaking his jaw which is the worst injury suffered in this push suspension movement? The west coast player got zero weeks. There have been other instances where some players have gotten weeks others got off.

It should be clear cut if your suspending people it’s the action not the outcome.

How do you justify Mansell getting 3 weeks for a push , Balta getting 4 or 5 weeks for assaulting someone that could have resulted in death and slurs can have the same outcome or worse.

It really is a chook lotto, Rankine has to get 4-5 weeks if they are consistent with previous bans but watch them make up some bullshit ruling and he gets a fine or misses the last round. For what it’s worth I don’t think a slur is worth the same punishment as assaulting someone.

Geez you Richmond sooks really need to get over the pre season minor incident.
