what are your stories/memories of it? i know bay 13 and the surrounding area has a fair bit of notoriety, but i do like the fact that it has such tradition (even if it is for mucking around), and it gives the game and the ground character. what sort of goings on have you seen in there over the years? was in M9 today. was not as crazy as yesterday, until a streaker managed to get 3/4 of the way across the ground, and did a robert harvey on about 4xsecurity guards/policemen, as well as the hefty fight in m5 at about 5.00.

the comm. bank series of 06/07 vs england/nz had some crazy happenings at the odis. can't recall it all off the top of my head, but there were some big fights, and some amazing efforts from streakers. could also see the big fight up the top of the olympic stand, too.

stephen fleming and steve waugh call a halt to the game. :p

shane warne heading down there with a helmet circa '99.

warne kicking tennis balls back into the crowd circa '01.

I thought that was the Indians rioting after a run out where they didn't ground their bat (but the bat was in the air well over the line which was hard to tell on the big screen).

rdhopkins. ;)

the one you mentioned was the first in january 2002. i remember it well, because it was a shock to see australia lose the way we did. the middle order of martyn, harvey, warne and lee just collapsed. williams and mcgrath were brave at the end, but we got done in the end.

Would have been fairly awesome to be amongst it ;)

Was that when they filled up the grassy bit between the fence and the rope with bottles? That was ****ing insane.

I was in the bay where Warne and Alec Stewart asked everyone to stop, it was the first match I ever went to :)

Does anyone have any footage? I'd love to relive it...

I remember seeing it on the news, was fairly unbelievable.

I also recall an ODI against the Windies a few years back (Brad Hogg took 5-fer) and Bay 13 was going nuts, especially during the mexican wave. Cups, bottles and even shoes being hurled up into the air.

The way he baulked the security guard just after he passed the pitch was poetry in motion.

I managed to see him jump the fence as well because I was having a look down near bay 13.

Funny enough, I was in Bay 9.
Where were you sitting?

i was in M10 today two row behind that group of people dressed up in fluro green.

Yeah, and I saw them hours after the game had finished just strolling around Richmond.

I love watching everyone in bay 13 trying to get themselves kicked out at the end of the day.

I saw one idiot break a beer snake into 2 parts whilst a policeman was carrying it.

haha classic. cant believe me and my mates got kicked out of the WACA for playing with a ball on the grass

I preferred the ranga pitch invader on Saturday, mostly because I was sitting about 10 rows behind him and saw him weighing up the merits of doing it while drunks behind me yelled at him saying he was a "druggie" (he was rather skinny) and to "****ing hurry up and do it" among other things :D:thumbsu:

he'd be $7000 skinnier afterwards!

In saying that, if someone paid me $7005 to do it, i'd be over that fence so fast they would never catch me

I'm no member, but on more than one occassion the crap from Bay 13 has pissed me off. The colour is fun but a lot of the time it turns into too many tossers who don't care about the game.

The aforementioned halt to the NZ/AUS game is one example - ****wits who were just there for their own gratification, didn't give a shit about whether it ruined the match for everyone else.

At the WACA one year the crowd created a beer snake that was so long it went round the entire ground just about.

After attending 2 of the days so far, I think I have worked out one MAJOR reason why people get so restless..

Because the MCG REFUSES to show any replays!
There's no hot-spot, no slow mos, not even a direct over the bowlers shoulder camera!

No, all we get is a crappy 10.3 degree off-centre camera at each end and a zoomed out mid wicket cam!

Having attended both the perth test last year, and the Adelaide test this year, I can tell you this is not a problem at either if these grounds..

WHY??

Because they ONLY USE channel 9 footage!
Sure, they cover it up with the score card as the bowler runs in, but any other time, you can look up and SEE WHAT PEOPLE SEE ON TV!
Why go the the cricket if they are going to keep you in the dark?

The mcg's inhouse cameras are a joke! Being at that Adelaide test, there was no more thrilling moment than referrels that went up to the third umpire.
We would all turn as one and celebrate every replay showing the edge, or boo every replay showing a plumb aussie lbw!

but at the mcg all you get to see is an exciting "decision pending" for 5 freakin minutes!!

No wonder people are resorting to their own fun!?

It's bloody insulting having any contriversial decisions "covered up" ie the Hauritz "runout".. 1 bloody replay from not even side on!?

FU mcg, I'm not gonna bother coming when i can see a much better coverage from my own couch!
And it seems, many MANY other people here are beggining to think the same way..

There was photos of that on here a couple of years ago. From memory it was at least 50 metres long.

I've seen one way bigger than that. It covered the whole western side of the ground from each grass section to the other.
