After the game had finished last night and sitting in the MCC, I went over to the tunnel to clap the boys off and offer some encouragement for next week...I know we were pretty horrendous last night, but they looked absolutely gutted walking off the ground especially acting captain Mark McVeigh.

While I was at the tunnel there was an imbecile Essendon supporter who decided to yell abuse at the players as they were walking off, Kyle Hardingham was one that looked directly up at this supporter and Mark McVeigh took exception to what was said and angrily turned around and walked towards the supporter whilst yelling back at him and had to be taken down the race by other players.

I was and the Essendon supporters around me were absolutely disgusted in this supporters behaviour and let him know about it and after the recent Stanton incident, we are getting a bad reputation as a poor group of supporters.

I hope somehow that this makes its way to the EFC in some way, but I am extremely proud of the team and club this year for making a stand and getting back to the powerhouse club that we once were!!!! Even though we didn't play to out potential last night, there should be never an excuse for a fan to abuse their own players. The reaction from Mark McVeigh shows how gutted he was and to hear this as a player walking down the race would be heart breaking, it still hurts thinking about the incident and can only imagine how the players feel hearing this.

Just my thoughts on an ugly situation that should never happen!!!!!

Every team has one of em.

Just hope the main bloke being Hirdy ripped into em instead

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

Another crybaby. It happens every week at every club. Welcome to the real world.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

 to the big boy yelling at the boys, I presume he has played 300 games for us and delivered a premiership. o i guess not then why abuse, sure during the game we all get passionate and say the odd silly thing.

I was disappointed at the number of supporters that left early. yes it was tempting but if you are a fair dinkum supporter you should be there for the team.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

Nothing you can do about these w***ers. It's better to not give them the attention they want.

Yes there is!!!!!!!!!!! You pull out your mobile phone and take his pic and then send it to EFC.

These types must be shamed publicly so that they don't carry on like that again.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

Pity McVeigh wasn't so agressive on the field, he's been ordinary the last 2 matches when he's needed to step up in the absence of Watson & Hocking. He also quite publicly lobbied for the captaincy after Lloyd retired & has had his chance to show leadership the last 2 matches & what has he done? He's to much show not enough go the old Spike & has pretty much wasted a lot of his career. The 2 year contract he got towards the end of last season was a poor decision & should've only got 1 year considering his age & output the previous 2 years. As for the supporter carrying on at the players he'd probably be embarased with making a spectacle of himself last night but many supporters would've felt the same way he did. Hopefully he didn't spit at any of the players, we'll leave that to Richmond supporters.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

I planned to take the kids to that clinic at Windy Hill today. I woke up a little hung over and still angry from the performance the night before. I told the kids that I'm not sure if we could go because I didn't really feel like seeing the players.

My 11 year old asked me why. I told him that I was pretty upset with their performance the night before. He said to me "dad it is only a game". You know what he is totally right. I go to watch the footy because I love the bombers and I love watching this game. With every bit of success had there is years of disappointment.

People need to get over it and realise that they give 100% all the time and sometimes it just doesn't come off.

We went to Windy Hill and had a great morning. The players were fantastic. At one point one of my boys was doing a drill with Crameri. The boys there asked him if he could kick a goal from 50m. He told them easy and that he'd done it lots of times. I mouthed over to my son to ask him about the goal he kicked from the square, against eagles I think. My son then turned to him and asked him "why did you miss that goal from the goal square last night?"

They get it from people without peanuts like that guy carrying on. It is only a game and if you don't enjoy it don't go.

Great post. A touch off topic but I think this relates to it. First round of cricket season last year, one of my best mates girlfriend came to watch. It was one of her first games of cricket, and she noticed something. We batted first and she said to me after the first day "Why do you all play cricket if every time you walk off you're always angry and upset. It doesn't even look like any of you enjoy it." I initially thought she just didn't get it, but the more I thought about it, the more she made sense.

We do/go to these things because we choose to, because we want to, and because we enjoy them, and if you're going to get this upset over things to the point where you are physically and verbally aggressive, it's not worth it. I'm all for passionate supporters during the game, supporting the team, and sure you are able to feel disappointed after certain games/results (like last nights) but not to this extent.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

happens all the time.

to be honest, if afl's a job like everyone says they should be fired.. un-inspiring football. AFL isn't a job, its a sport, its a hobby its a passion. so meh.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

LOL I wonder whether some of you attend many sports at any level. This happens every week, with every clubs fans, with every sport around the world. Doesnt make it right, but it also doesnt mean we have to go on some moral high ground crusade against anyone who dare speak out against the club.

Get over it.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

You should have seen the Windyhill days if you think that was bad.

Funny you mention that, recently I saw Simon Madden do a presentation and he talked about how the bomber fans would start slow clapping

Very funny and easy going bloke :thumbsu: considering the club champ he is

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

Maybe if they stop giving the insipid performances like the last 2 games then people wont abuse them.

Please dont say we are back as a powerhouse club as we are only half a game better off as the same time last year under Knights.

I've got a picture of you after that one sentence.....loser who is happy to lose. Let me tell you that Spike would have been just as upset about our supporters clapping off that performance as he was the abuse he might have been getting. Every club has the nuffy's hanging around all the time trying to make everything positive, the players dislike them more than the educated supporters who openly give their opinion.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

Through the year's I've followed Richmond I've heard it all from, Rascisim to blokes spitting on the coach to the worst joke's you will ever hear.. Every club has them and it's ruining the great game. You lot will bounce back. You have have a amazing player in heppel

Chin up, TCE.

Re: Essendon Fan Disgrace....Again!!!!!!

Stop whinging. Perhaps if they didn't play soft, rubbish football they may have got some applause. Instead they were dreadful. I ask you this- do you clap a builder for stuffing up a house? Why clap a player(s) for stuffing up a game!

Exactly !

I'm amazed at how many people actually cheered the performance Friday night. Why be happy with an embarrassing loss to a side who shouldn't be finishing in the top 10 even.

Very very bad showing Friday Night.

If I was at the game, I too would be pointing the finger at a few players, not swearing as much as the suppporter obviously but still pointing the finger.

Why be pleased at the shocking performance, we should of won by 6+ goals. We were 8 points up at half time, we should of been the 1's kicking 6 goals to 0 in the 2rd quarter.

Nothing less is excepted. You cant use the excuse of injuries for every loss.

There are a few players who are not playing for the jersey, not playing for the colours and are just rocking up expecting to win without putting in 120% in each game on the field.

You just cant rock up to the club expecting to be selected and just play crap like Friday Night

And Yes I will name names - Ryder, Lovett-Murray & even Bellchambers has been dissapointing recently.

Out backline was very poor, it make Fletcher look every bit of 36 years old. We can't let that happen ever again.

With Hurley & Watson in vs Fremantle, and with Sandilands out, surely Fremantle wont beat us, but I guarantee this, if we lose as bad as we did vs Melbourne, heads need to roll in regards to the players.
