If you listened to some of the clowns on this board... they don't want a new stadium as they think people won't go to the football anymore and won't re-new their memberships. They just want the status quo and for the oldies to continue having exclusive access. I can't stand negative people and this board is full of them.

This post is deeply ironic ... Intended or otherwise :)

There are only in the wings members now because they can't get full seated memberships. The eagles have 55k odd members, with only 35k odd that are seated due to capacity.

An in the wings membership costs about $60 per year, yet a seated membership is anywhere between $300 and $600 per seat, so surely it would be in the clubs interest to have all their members seated?

Also with walk ups, doesn't the home team get the gate takings anyway (with the AFL getting a cut I'm sure)

I would have thought the more the merrier

A full membership is a guaranteed payment regardless of whether or not the member goes to the game. If they onsell their ticket it's two payments. A person who goes to walk-up games on a whim is not a guaranteed payment. Take your gws game for example. Even with less than 30000 attending the eagles made the same money (not including food etc). Demand for those limited memberships keeps profits high.

But the in the wings members are paying that to be on a waiting list to get a full membership so they can get into a ground with limited seating. If you only wanted to go to a few games a year and there's walkup admissions available then why would you pay a full membership? A percentage of the in the wings will pay a full membership but I would think that some of the paid members at the moment may not feel the need to renew if the stadium holds 60000 either.

If it was kept to 50000 then both teams could grow but still keep the demand high. Hence the clubs asking the government for that.

Low crowd numbers isn't the only interesting thing. The amount of blank advertising space on the northern side of the ground is also a concern. At the start of the year I thought there may have been a delay in getting them printed up but was still blank last week.

Seems the club is starting to struggle to find sponsors which has not been the case for a long time.

Yeah good point, I've noticed this too. Probably also why they've been publicizing their corporate packages so much!

Mother's Day is always going to be a low drawing day. The reason the AFL give it to us is because it's already a sell out and it doesn't matter if no one rocks up.
Yes. Who beat this guy for POTY? What a tosser.

Poor crowd today for the Saints / Suns game. Mind you, neither team have more than a handful of supporters anyway.

I had 2 spare tickets to the GWS game and no one wanted em, GWS are garbage and it was Mothers Day. Subiaco is truly shocking, I cant fit in my bench seats being 6'3 with shoes on..so I dont go sometimes, my mates also prefer tv nowadays so my tickets just go unused a fair bit.

Fremantle Crowds

35583 v Gold Coast (Saturday twilight - wet)
36722 v Essendon (Sunday afternoon)
37624 v North (Friday night)
38565 v Geelong (Saturday night - Pav's 300th)

Average 37124

West Coast Crowds

36752 v Bulldogs (Sunday afternoon)
36448 v St Kilda (Saturday twilight)
35366 v Port (Saturday night)
29391 v GWS (Sunday afternoon)

Average 34489

The GWS game is an obvious outlier, other than that the crowds are fairly similar between the clubs but Freo's numbers are trending upwards whilst ours are reversing

I was at the Freo game last night. Couldn't believe they didn't get 40k+ for Pav's 300th on a Saturday night with good weather against their nemeses the Cats. The game was a sell out as well, bloody members.

Are you a Freagle?

Nah west coast supporter through and through, no love for fremantle. Girlfriend is unfortunately a freo supporter and she had a spare ticket so i tagged along. Was on my feet cheering for Pav though when he slotted the first goal, legend.

The AFL arnt paying for the stadium , tax payers are, so lets not get too concerned about the clubs, it should all be about the footy public and the ability to walk off the street & purchase tickets to any game on any given day , weather it be an AFL game, cricket game , soccer game etc.
If they lower the cost of memberships & add some extras then you will still get 50,000+ members.
The WCE have had it too good for too long when it comes to competing for the dollar , Its time they put more effort into keeping their members happy.

If your GF supports Freo and you were cheering for Pav you're a Freagle....

What's a Freagle? An eagles supporter who happens to like Freo too? Can it also be the other way around ? Or is it beyond like and actually support as a second team ?

Im noteholder member and went to the 91 grand final, Hawthorn over Fremantle? not me

Fair enough.

I'd buy your note and burn it if I knew who you were :p

The "I hate all Vics just because" thing is dumb. Generally a view held by insular slightly backward bogan types. Although I'm surprised to find one of them as a fellow noteholder. I guess no system is perfect :)

I only really care about the Eagles, why hate Freo just because. I actually hate all clubs equally. Eagles are so vanilla though right now without Naitanui firing, Fremantle are better to watch.

Many teams are better to watch.

But you indicated that you hate Vics more than Freo. Now you've changed.

Freo suck because their fans are w***ers and one tends to bump into a lot of them. They exist based on not liking us. They also smell funny ...

I don't mind Freo at all these days. Whats not to like? If you 'reset' the rivalry and started it from scratch since Ross took over or whatever, what really have Freo done to be disliked? They have no dirty players anymore, no Carr brothers or Farmer. They have some gun local players like Fyfe, and have actually been doing WA football proud. Compared to what we dish up.

They're a good side and they get a lot of respect from me for that.

Re attending the eagles games. I'd ****ing go if I could get a decent seat. The only seat I can get off ebay or anything is pretty damn average and in the forward pocket. It's no wonder I've flown to Melbourne and seen more games over there then I have here recently, the members seating at Etihad or the MCG is dynamite. I'll be flying back again for the bombers game. Having a wings membership is so great

I think its the AFL in general. Nobody wants to watch basketball like rules in a contact sport
