feenix67 For such a well researched student of the game, why do you have your own "unique" pronounceiation of certain players names ie
Bon-Tim-Pelly, Jordan De-Goy, Elliot Ye-Oh & not that you'll probably ever mention him again (until that eventual Browlow)
Harry Show-n-berg?
Image if it was Macca fluffing it weekly... you'd be ALL over him!

This gets me angry at the hypocrisy of the AFL !!!

For a long period, paper cups were used at the footy, for fear of bottles being used as projectiles

But $$$$ win out ..... they're now selling premixed cans at the footy

Yeah its a bit ridiclous.

Im more than happy to have my beer or soft drink in a plastic cup if it stops idiots trying to throw cans and bottles.

Nick Watson baiting the crowd knowing they cant (shouldnt) do anything back though, is pretty classless.

fair points and i certainly dont understand the legals at all. but i can see both sides. certainly your side which many (most) will agree with. but with players that now have significant brain injuries - many who have committed suicide - probably feel for a very minimal wage but they were employed by vfl/afl they were in a league that condoned pretty hard hits to the head (roo on kemp) that werent even suspended plus all the other biffo (king hits, elbows to the head etc)

i personally hope the legals DONT get up as it will change the game we love forever. I am just recognising its not a black and white issue

Back then they were employed by their clubs, who were all largely broke paying these guys their wages and brown paper bags. The rules of the sport were known to the players and deliberate high contact was penalised, video technology has been the major improvement there. Boxers still engage in a sport that sees them punched dozens of times in a contest. And as soon as the cause of CTE became understood, the AFL acted to reduce potential actions that create concussion. Effectively changing the fabric of the game.

The AFL will end up settling, nobody wants to end up in court.

I can't be bothered digging through for the post, but DJ75 in a bit of interesting timing, SEN Champion Data segment had a comment on Dawson this week and how we're using him. Turns out he's the 8th rated forward in the competition for the last two years for players with over 1000 minutes played (and 36th for midfield...).

Guess that's why we're not using him as a defender.

Wow. Very much contradicts the eye test. Interesting.

I could counter that Champion Data's ratings are always absolutely horrible though and regularly go against what you see in game.

Of course Dawson is good anywhere he plays. I feel like he's more dangerous playing off half back. Maybe I'm wrong.

I really hope our coaches don't base any of their decisions on champion data though.

Might be just that’s where we suck most.

Tex didn’t actually say anything ‘about’ aboriginal people. I know it’s meant to be humour, but he didn’t really get close to being funny.
There's a guy on the main board who believes Tex said the big bad word you should never use. People think what they want to think regardless of the truth.

I always thought Blight was called the Messiah because of his 97/98 miracles but it seems Geoff Roach and the editor at the time seemed to predict the future
